Causes of Divorce

There are many reasons why people want a divorce. These are only some of the possible causes of divorce:

Lack of communication is one of the main causes of divorce. When the lines of communication fail a marriage is on the rocks. There cannot be an effective relationship if couple don’t discuss their feelings, can’t talk about their mutual or personal issues, keep their resentments simmering under wraps, and expect your partner to guess what the whole problem is about.

Divorce can also happen when people rarely discuss their expectations in detail prior to marriage, are less willing to work on their marriages afterwards, and would like quick solutions rather than having to resolve issues. Marital Infidelity and lack of commitment to the marriage is also another major cause of divorce.

Abuses are possible causes of divorce. Abuse may come not only in the form of physical abuse, but also in the form of sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse. Drug and alcohol abuse as well as excessive gambling constitutes a form of abuse. Even when there are no physical or verbal abuses, the other partner would understandably have a difficult time managing finances and daily life with an addicted spouse.

Sex occupies an essential part of marriage and couples are expected to perform the act. In some cases, sexual dysfunction or disinterest may begin after tying the knot. If a couple is unable to resolve this, it may become a cause for divorce.

Incompatibility is said to be one of the main reasons for divorce in many cases. A couple may not be able to find a common ground sexually, intellectually and emotionally. In such cases, it might just be unbearable to live life with someone you just can't fit with.

Interference from parents or in-laws, lack of maturity, and falling out of love can also cause a couple to seek divorce. Difference in religious beliefs, cultural and lifestyle differences are also possible reason for divorce. Mental illness and criminal behavior and incarceration for crime also can be a reason for divorce in some cases.

When a couple is not willing to work out the problem or unable to resolve the issue, either or both of them seek divorce. Make sure that you avoid divorce at all costs. There is a great resource for helping folk save their marriages - have a look at Prevent Divorce for further information.
