Why am I Getting Panic Attacks? When you understand the answer to that question, it will be easier to prevent one from happening again. There are a number of contributors that can cause a panic attack. The short and obvious answer is that panic attacks are caused by high anxiety.
But, what exactly is anxiety? Understanding how anxiety crops up will help you defeat panic attacks.
Panic attacks are essentially your natural warning signal to the brain to communicate the possibility of danger. They develop from a fear or feeling of losing control. But the key to success fortreating panic attacks is to first identify why you are getting them, followed by the learning techniques to control them. Following are the 4 main causes of panic attacks:
- First one is stress. Stress affects the body in many ways, and for some people it can create unwanted psychological side effects. This can include a huge rush of anxious thoughts, which can trigger a panic attack. Of course, it would be difficult to eliminate all the stress from your life, but learning some effective techniques to manage it can control your anxieties.
- Second one is depression. Unlike stress, depression is a deep sadness that often develops slowly. Since this condition leads to feelings of hopelessness and a lack of desire, people who are depressed may have trouble organizing their thoughts, which can lead to a feeling of not being able to control their life. which can lead to anxiety disorders and panic attacks. Luckily, a successful treatment for depression will alleviate these symptoms.
- Third one is Phobias. Everyone gets into situations in life that they would rather avoid, but for some of us these situations can happen on a daily basis. The fear of driving, flying, or being in crowded areas can become severe liabilities for some of us. Our fears can trigger a panic response from the brain, causing an attack. But learning to control these fears is the only way to completely eliminate the psychological side effects.
- Fourth - - Traumatic Events. Sometimes a life-changing event such as a car accident or loss of a loved one can trigger panic attacks. These types of events can be so emotionally draining that panic could set in for some people. Episodes can occur once or multiple times depending on how traumatic the experience was. The best method of treatment in this case is to use coping strategies to overcome the grief involved with the event.
Finally, unresolved emotions are often pointed to as possible triggers of panic attacks, but it is important to point out that eliminating panic attacks from your life does not necessarily mean analyzing your psyche and digging into your subconscious.
