It seems that there are more and more celebrity diet books coming out every day. With so many diet books on the market it can be overwhelming. Which books should you read?

In 2007 some of the more popular diet books were the 5 Factor Diet, the Slim & Beautiful Diet, the Food Doctor Diet and The Entrepreneur Diet. So far in 2008 we have the Lunch Box Diet and The Flat Belly Diet.

The 5 Factor Fitness Diet is written by Harley Pasternak. Celebrities Jessica Simpson and John Mayer used his diet plan and made it popular. It was first published in 2004 and was followed up by the book The Five Factor Diet.

Dr. Aaron Tabor and his mother Suzanne Tabor write the book, The Revivial Slim & Beautiful Diet. The book makes the promise that you will lose 26 to 29 pounds.

In just sixteen weeks. He claims that soy-based foods can help individuals to lose weight in the BizJournals - May 2005. There is a Website now that offers the program on-line.

The Food Doctor Diet book first circulated in the UK and now is promoted on-line. The diet itself is from Ian Marber who runs the Food Doctor nutritional clinic in London. This book has lots of colorful pages full of photos and diagrams. There is the initial 7-day plan and then a plan for life to follow for a lifetime of healthy eating.

Tom Weede, who is a former editor of Men's Fitness magazine, writes the Entrepreneur Diet book. The premise of the book is that for individuals who are constantly on the go in the business world, they need to take care of their #1 asset, which are their body.

The book is a comprehensive approach to healthy nutrition and a healthy lifestyle including a 2-week diet plan with some "quick-fix" options that are outlined for each meal. The book stresses appropriate portions, healthy fats, reduced sugars and whole grains. The book includes exercise options.

The Lunch Box Diet is a 10 page downloadable document written by personal trainer Simon Lovell from the UK. It has been advertised in Elle Magazine.

The premise of the book is to fill a lunch box full of nutritious vegetables, proteins and fats and then to proceed to graze on the contents throughout the day (in between meals). You are to do this grazing every hour or so without gorging yourself. There is a mix to be followed of 60% vegetables, 30% lean proteins, and 10% dressing.

The Flat Belly Diet is written by the Editor in Chief of Prevention magazine, Liz Vaccariello along with her Nutrition Editor, Cynthia Sass. Basically the book states that you should eat Monounsaturated Fatty Acids at each meal. Foods that contain this acid are olive oil, sunflower oil, flax oil, avocado, nuts and seeds. The book also details eating whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and also that individuals should limit the amount of meat in their diet. The meal plans contain 1600 daily calories.

There are optional exercises in the book such as Push-ups, squats, lunges and brisk walking. There is an online program. There are two studies that point to the fact that replacing saturated fats in the diet with Monounsaturated Fatty Acids can result in favorable weight loss.

  • Simon Monjack Speaks on Death of Brittany Murphy

Less than two days after Brittany Murphy died cardiac arrest at the age of 32, her husband Simon Monjack made his first comments about her tragic death. "My world was destroyed yesterday," an emotional Simon told Access Hollywood. "I loved what Ashton [Kutcher] wrote on Twitter. It was comforting to me." The message posted by Kutcher, Murphy's ex-boyfriend read, "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine ... My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon. see you on the other side kid." Simon Monjack said that he did not know his wife's former Just Married co-star personally, but thanked Ashton, saying "I couldn't have said it better." As far as what happened inside the actress' home Sunday, when Murphy was found unresponsive in the shower, Monjack it started as "a regular day." "[Her mother] Sharon went in the bathroom because she had been in there a long time. Her mom screamed for me. I ran, then called 911," he said. His world shattered after his young wife tragically passed away, a dejected Simon Monjack found comfort in the words of Brittany Murphy's ex Ashton Kutcher. The L.A. Fire Department responded to a 911 call from the home and transported Murphy to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. L.A. County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said the actress' death "appears to be natural at this time." Murphy's autopsy results have been deferred. With regards to reports that she was battling flu-like symptoms in recent days, Monjack said Murphy was sick, but it did not seem like anything serious. "She had laryngitis," he said, noting that the 32-year-old had seen a doctor. "She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies." Monjack - who married Murphy in 2007, took exception to the idea that his wife was surrounded people (including himself) who were bad influences. "I don't know why anyone would think that," he said. "She found love. We found love. Brittany didn't get to where Brittany was with anyone controlling her or influencing her ... Brittany was Brittany." - 6 hours ago

  • Brittany Murphy Autopsy Results Deferred; LAPD Rules Out Foul Play, Criminal Activity

The LAPD's preliminary investigation into the death of Brittany Murphy has established that there is no evidence of foul play or other criminal activity, sources say. Police are now waiting for the Brittany Murphy autopsy results from the L.A. County Coroner. If the results raise red flags, the LAPD may pursue the matter further. Investigators believe, pending the autopsy, that Murphy died of natural causes. But autopsy results have been deferred pending toxicology and neurological tests. Still, the LAPD has not formally closed the investigation because of the possibility that Murphy, who passed away Sunday, overdosed on prescription medication. “We are keeping the investigation open until the toxicology reports are available in five to six weeks,” an LAPD source privy to the investigation told Radar Online. The late Brittany Murphy (1977-2009). Early yesterday, the 32-year-old actress was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in L.A. after falling ill and being found unconscious in the bathroom.
