Cell Phone a Necessity

Cell Phones

Cell phones are a necessity in modern society. If you don’t have one it is like not having an address. These days people are expected to have e-mail, fax and a cell. Gone are the days of local phone and street address. Phones are so commonplace we forget about costs, charges and where conversations lead.

Circles are the latest gimmick to sale cell phones. It saves money. It is true you can save a bunch of green. The only problem with circles is that you call more, talk more and that means people outside your circle. The cell phone companies know this and are counting on you making more calls.

Isn’t annoying that people are always on the phone? They can’t always be talking to their five people in the circle. I’ve seen people use a phone in a steam room and in a swimming pool. Grant you both were using bluetooth so their hands were free. The need to talk seems to become addictive. Imagine going a week without a phone?

The best feature yet is the mobile to mobile. Just imagine how cheap calling would be if everyone were with the same company. Alltel and Verizion have merged so that makes it easier on some people. In most people’s minds the calls are free and therefore I can talk more and more and more.

One of the small things people forget is that someone calling you from out of your area code using a land-line is paying long distance charges. We are so accustomed to using our cell phones we forget about long-distance charges on land-lines. The phone companies love this. If you examine your land-line phone bill you will notice it costs less than twenty bucks a month (excluding fees and taxes). Throw in a few long distance charges and the bill blossoms.

A cell phone is a life-saver. When you need to remind someone of something or you have an emergency the phone is at your fingertips. Everyone should have one right? Not exactly, some people talk way too much about nothing. We say things we shouldn’t say and we forget what we said to whom.

Take a moment and analyze your conversations on the phone. Is the content gossip and rumor? There are occasions you are with a person chatting away on their phone (they are being rude by doing so) are you amazed at how easy they talk about other people? so, if you were not with that person would they be talking about you?

Cell phones are a necessity. Those little phones with all the gadgets from voice recorders to video cameras have changed the way we live and communicate. With so much talk, are our lives better?

Naw, not a necessity. I have a prepaid one I keep in my purse in case I break down on the side of the road. Don't even know the phone number for it. Of course, I use rabbit ears for my TV reception, too. The only things I consider a necessity are food, clothing and shelter - and time with my family.

cellphones are really a necessity, it can save other peoples' lives, yet it can kill too. The point is, it depends how responsible a person uses this man-made invention..
