Cell Phone Ethics or Etiquette

Cell Phone Etiquette

The cell phone has virtually replaced the home phone. You see people publically using their cell phones everywhere.

Use proper etiquette when you are using your cell phone. I'm also noticing that some corporations are banning cellphone usage in their workplace.

Cell phones were once thought of as devices to be used only in the case of emergency situations, but they are more of a novelty item now, and they can become a nuisance or distraction in most places, if they are not used constructively in our environment.

* When ordering food from a restaurant, do not answer your cell phone or talk to another individual on your cell phone, while attempting to talk to the people in the restaurant, that is rude.

*Talking to a cashier, while you are checking out at the register at a retail outlet or store, while talking on your cell phone is also considered to be rude cell phone behavior as well.

Tell the person on the other end of your cell phone conversation, that you will call him or her back, as soon as you leave the check out lane in the store.

* Turn your cell phone OFF, when you are in a group setting, or at least put it on vibrate.

*Especially when you are engaged in an important business meeting, your cell phone should either be OFF or on vibrate mode. Nothing more annoying in a business meeting, than to hear a cell phone loud ring in that business setting itself, or just hearing a goofy ring tone. Best solution for that is to Turn Off Your Cell Phone.

*Don't openly talk on your cellphone in quite places such as, Libraries, Movie Theaters, respect others privacy and their personal space in public places. Take your cell phone outside the establishment and talk to your hearts content.

* Do not take a cell phone call , when you have been instructed on an airplane to turn ALL electrical devices OFF, that includes your cell phone, by the way. I didn't want to comment on this, but that also means turning off your Laptop too.

* Wear a headset or blue-tooth when driving, or use your blue-tooth in your car to talk on your cell phone, it could save your live, or prevent you from having an accident.

Also BEWARE : Most cities throughout the U.S. are adopting new cell phone regulations, which stipulates that you cannot drive and have your cell phone up to your ear. You cannot be using your text feature or chatting while driving as well.

So, if you are pulled over by law enforcement, and issued a ticket for driving while using your cell phone, the fee for that ticket alone is very expensive, and the price you pay, may vary depending on where you live in the United States.

You have been warned and informed.....

*Last but not least, cell phone etiquette, is nothing more than just using common sense courtesy.
