This hub is dedicated to providing you with up to date information about getting cell phones with bad credit. Not too long ago I was in a position where my credit was struggling and it took me a lot of time to do enough research to find the best deal.

Getting cell phones for people that have bad credit is honestly pretty tough. Some companies charge huge deposits and some don't even really pay them back. If you have to put down a deposit, it can often take a while to get your money back and that can be a huge hassle. Some companies charge more than others and this page will teach you about each of the companies you could be considering.

Getting Sprint Cell Phones For Bad Credit

Sprint used to provide one of the best programs out there for people that have bad credit. However, now they're just about the same as most other service providers. With Sprint, there are there levels of deposits: 125, 250, 500. The one you have to go with is going to depend on your credit history. If you have terrible credit you'll be asked to give a $500 deposit. If you have no credit, it will probably be more like $125. If you're in between it's going to cost $250 to get started.

In the past, Sprint was by far the easiest to work with because their maximum deposit was once $125.

Sprint pays their deposits back only after 12 on time payments.

Getting Verizon Cell Phones When You Have Bad Credit

Verizon's most common deposit amount is $400. They also have recently added a deposit of $1000 for individuals that have extremely low credit scores.

Verizon isn't much different to work with than any of the other providers, except that they won't write you a refund check when it's time for that. Verizon requires you to have on time payments for a year before they will refund at all, and once you have made your on-time payments they will credit your account with the amount of the deposit. That means you won't have to pay your bill for a while, but you won't be getting any money back.

Verizon's deposit is independent of the phone you choose.

T-Mobile Phones For Bad Credit

T-mobile actually has a few different programs for people that have bad credit. They first have a program which has a set spending amount. You can't run your service over $125 of they will shut you off. The phones sometimes cost a little bit more and it costs $125 to get started, on top of the cost of the phone. It's not really pre-paid, it's more like a secured account - just like a secured credit card.

The other program that T-Mobile has offers a regular account with a $500 deposit. If you start this way, you'll have all of the rights of a regular T-Mobile user and will be able to get any phone and any plan that everyone else can get.

T-mobile refunds their deposits afer 12 months of on-time payments.

Cricket Cell Phones Are Ideal For Bad Credit

If you have really bad credit, Cricket cell phones may be ideal for you. Cricket doesn't check credit so it doesn't matter if your credit score is 350 or 850. Cricket costs a little bit more up front than other providers - you can expect to pay an extra $100 or so but then you have unlimited everything each month. That's pretty nice if you do a lot of texting or calling. There's no deposit with Cricket because they don't check credit.
