64An Interesting New Idea For Your Central Vacuum System
That is the beauty of central vacuum systems. There is no end to the useful accessories that can be invented to make them more efficient and useful.
The latest that I came across recently is a ‘DrawerVac’ and it consists of exactly that, a drawer that doubles up as a vacuum cleaner!
John Ryan, the man who invented the ‘DrawerVac’ says that the idea came to him when he was trying to clean his kitchen counter, while at the same time attempting to talk on the phone. Now we know that men are not as good as women when it comes to multi-tasking, but John had the idea that instead of knocking all of the crumbs from the kitchen counter onto the floor, why could he not open a drawer and wipe them into that instead.
And so, ‘DrawerVac’ was born and by all accounts, it is marketing very well. So, well done John, and keep up the good work.
Vent Your Central Vacuum System To The Outside.
Whether your central vacuum cleaner is cyclonic or filtered, and whether it is bagged or bagless, it is always advisable to have it vented to the outside if at all possible.
The cyclonic systems claim to give the best filtration and some manufacturers say that they can achieve 100% filtration of dust and allergens from the expelled air. Maybe they can, but that is when the unit is working at peak capacity. When the dirt is first placed into the canister of bag by centrifugal force, there can be 2% - 10% of dust still in the air. This air then gets filtered before it is passed back into the living environment.
As you can imagine, if you have the opportunity to vent you vacuum to the outside, the air that has gone through the system, whether it is 100% filtered or not, goes to the outside of your home and this is a further protection to you and your family from dust particles and allergens.
Bagged Or Bagless, Which Central Vacuum Is For You?
Whether you opt for a filtered central vacuum system or the cyclonic type, you have the option of having the collected dirt, dust and debris dropping down into a canister in the base unit, or being collected in a bag that you can remove when the system indicates that the bag is full.
Personally I prefer the bag-type systems. It works in the sane way as a regular bag type vacuum cleaner, except that the bags for the central vacuum systems are much larger and therefore do not have to be emptied anywhere near as often.
This system would appear to be more hygienic as you do not have to handle the dirt and you have no dust rising into the air as you are trying to clean out the system.
More importantly, if you in any way suffer from allergy to dust mites, or are sensitive to allergens, the bagged system is definitely the system you should favour.

Different Types Of Central Vacuum Cleaners.
There may be many different makes and models of central vacuum cleaners out there, in the same way that there are countless makes and models of automobiles, but there are really only 2 types of central vacuums – a filtered system and a cyclonic system.
The cyclonic system draws up the dirt and dust into the base unit, where it under goes a cyclonic pressure and the dirt and dust drops in to a bag or canister.
The remaining air is then passed through a filter so that the air that is eventually expelled from the system can be up to 100% filtered if the vacuum is working at peak efficiency.
A filtered system filters the air carrying the dirt before it reaches the motor, dropping the dirt down into a canister or bag again. This system works well to protect the base unit motor, but you do need to keep the filter clean so as not to effect the performance of the unit.
Shop Around For Central Vacuum Cleaners.
There are many central vacuum systems out there at the moment. Central Vacuum Cleaners have become more mainstream than here-to-fore and are becoming standard features in upper end housing schemes. This is encouraging central vacuum manufacturers to produce different models in an effort to keep ahead of the competition.
It pays to shop around in the present market as manufacturers and suppliers of central vacuum systems are keen to make sales and maybe you can strike a good deal with the salesperson f you have made some comparisons.
It is no harm to have done your research before the salesperson arrives – have a look on the web and compare prices of different models and the different offers that are available.
