Recommended Central Coast Wineries To Tour
64Interested in a two day wine tour of the central coast of california, read on!
If you're coming to San Luis Obispo County to do some wine tasting, I suggest breaking it up in two days.
Plan to hit no more than five wineries per day, have a designated driver, and pack a picnic, but purchase a bottle of wine from your favorite winery of the day to enjoy with your lunch.

Wine Tasting in Paso Robles North San Luis Obispo County Wine Tasting Tour
Spend one day tasting wines in Paso Robles. There are quite a few on Highway 46 and 41.
Here are five of my favorites.
- Adelaida Cellars - Located at 5805 Adelaida Road in Paso Robles, CA the tasting room is open from 11 - 5 daily. The Cabernet Sauvignon is my personal favorite. The tasting room is simple and clean. This is a great first choice for a Paso Robles wine tasting tour.
- Eberle Winery - For as long as we have been taking friends and family wine tasting in Paso Robles, we've been stopping at the Eberle Winery. This winery has a great deck that can be reserved for picnics, but we usually bring our own. The wine tasting is complimentary. In the summer it opens early at 10 am and closes at 6pm.
- Wild Horse Vineyards - This winery is tucked away south of Paso Robles in Tempelton. It's a little out of the way, but the drive on the back roads is peaceful and I always enjoy the tasting. It's tasting room is open 11-5. It can be a little difficult to find, but keep your eyes open as you wind down Tempelton Road.
Usually when tasting in Paso Robles we hit three to five. Five is really pushing it for us, especially in the summer when it's hot. However, there are many more if you feel like keeping the wine tour going.
South San Luis Obispo County Wine Tasting Tour
- Talley Vineyards - Talley is located on the way out Lopez Lake between Arroyo Grand and San Luis Obispo. Besides having tasty wines, there is a great courtyard with park benches. We usually pick up sandwiches and snacks, bring the kids, and eat and drink wines we purchase from the tasting room. There is a nice grass area where the kids play and the tables are shaded which is perfect for enjoying winery outdoors.
- Edna Valley Vineyard - We been to a few weddings at this winery which were great. If you're scouting for a wedding location or just wine tasting this is a great place to hit on a hot summer day. Their Chardonnay has lots of oak and is buttery. For a bottle of wine under $10 this is a great deal.
- Tolosa Winery - While the wines are very drinkable, you usually don't find them in stores and seem to be little known. However, this winery has one of the coolest tasting rooms on the central coast of California. It's a must hit.
- Laititia Vineyard and Winery - This is one of my favorite Pinot Noirs. Located South of Arroyo Grande, it's a good one to start at and then work your way back towards San Luis Obispo on your wine tour tasting.
- Claiborne and Churchill - We have a long term friend who is a great guy that is assistant wine maker at Claiborne and Churchill. We love to support our friends so we drink this very good wine regularly and include it on our family and friends wine tours.
