Centropyge Fisheri - Facts On The Centropyge Fisheri
74Scientific Name : Centropyge Fisheri

Maximum Size : 3 inches
Diet : Omnivore
Centropyge Fisheri, centropyge argi, centropyge flavicauda, along with both both African Flameback and Brazilian Flameback angelfish make up the smallest marine angelfish in the genus. They are commonly known as the Fishers Angelfish. They rarely exceed 3 inches and are commonly sold from 1 to 2 inches. It is a dusky orange throughout with a yellow tail and a black spot near the pectoral fin.
Centropyge Fisheri X Centropyge Resplendent Hybrid
Endemic to the Hawaiian islands and Johnston Atoll, the fisher’s angelfish is not the most commonly seen fish in the market. They cost between $40-$50 so price wise, they sit squarely above C.Flavicauda and C.Argi while below both the flamebacks.
This angelfish has been bred with centropyge resplendent in the past by Frank Baensch of Reef Culture Technologies. There haven't been any other hybrids on the market as far as i know.

Temperament
Despite ther small sizes C.fisheri manage to hold their own against larger more aggressive marin fish. In terms of aggression they're no worse than a cherub angelfish.
Don't put two fishers angelfish together in a small tank unless you want to see some fireworks go off.

Tank Size
A saltwater aquarium no smaller
than 30 gallons should be used to house a Fisher’s angelfish. A 50
gallon tank or bigger is recommended. They enjoy darting in and out of
nooks and crannies so the aquarium rock scape should be set up
accordingly.
Fishers angelfish do nip on
corals like the rest of the members in the genus so no surprises there.
With its small size, this can be a major problem if it is housed in a
large marine aquarium and begins to sample your expensive corals.

Diet
Angelfish from the genus centropyge are all grazers in the wild. They constantly scan the rock for food items throughout the day, much like surgeonfish. They feed on detritus, tiny crustaceans and a wide variety of algae.
A well balanced diet should be given in a saltwater aquarium. Variety is important, feed them foods from a wide range of food groups. Feeding them a specific food for too long can be detrimental to their health. Although i've heard of hobbyists feeding them new life spectrum pellets for prolonged periods of time with no ill effects. It seemed like they were doing great in fact.
They should be fed a frozen food that has both meat and algae (Formula One, Formula Two), algae and nori sheets as well as a pellet from a reputable brand like New Life Spectrum.
The Pygmy Angel Formula by Ocean Nutrition is just about the perfect food for dwarf angels. A wide range of ingredients are used. They are shrimp, algae, krill, vitamins and trace elements, kelp, squid and much more. The ingredients mentioned are all added prior to freezing. Unfortunately there is only one form of Pygmy Angel Formula, frozen cubes.
I don't like feeding brine shrimp as they don't offer much nutritionally. Frozen adult brine shrimps contain mostly roughage, which is nothing more than fibre. Foods that are far superior like krill or mysis shrimp also have fibre.
Should you insist on feeding your dwarf angelfish artemia, choose a type that has been enriched beforehand. Brine shrimp that were feed something nutritious like spirulina prior to freezing are known as enriched brine shrimp. They are used as vessels housing nutrition.
Newly hatched brine shrimp are also quite nutritious, as long as their yolk sacs are still in place. They turn back into garbage once their yolk sacs have been used up.
C.Fisheri X C.Resplendent pair courting
Breeding
As mentioned in the overview, C.Fisheri's has been paired with C.resplendent and their offspring has been raised. This is not a natural occurance in the wild. The first (and maybe only) pair ever produced was by RCT of Hawaii.
Centropyge fisheri are pelagic spawners, meaning they broadcast fertilized eggs into the water column. Spawning normally takes place after the sun sets with the male initiating courtship. Both male and female fisheri rise up the water column and with a flick, both sperm and eggs are released. The release takes no more than half a second.
