Earn a College Degree or Professional Certificate Online

Why would someone want to earn a degree online?

Certificate online programs are a convenient solution for working people who are unable to attend regularly scheduled classes. Online programs allow potential students to fit education and work into their busy schedule. Working mothers and busy professionals can pursue a college degree or professional certificate online, without having to interrupt their normal daily routine of taking care of a household or working a job.

What types of online college courses are available?  Almost any college course and degree program imaginable can be found online. Courses such as Business, Culinary Arts, Design, and Computer Programming tend to be the most popular college courses taken online.

How much does an online degree cost?  The cost of a distance learning program will vary based on the chosen school which classes you decide to take. An online degree is substantially cheaper than the cost of attending  university. You don't have the travel expense. There's no need to pay room and board. Tuition costs are less because the schools have lower overhead costs.

Is their Financial assistance available? Financial aid is also available for online students just as it would be for a traditional University.

Are online schools accredited?  Employers recognize schools by their accreditation. Accreditation also determines if some or all of your college credits can be transferred to another institution. Colleges and universities are accredited by private institutions. Many online schools will tell you in their advertising who they are accredited by. You can find a list of nationally recognized accrediting agencies by checking the U.S. Department of Education website listings of national and regional accrediting agencies.

How long does it take to complete a course or degree program?  The length and duration of time to complete a course of study or complete a degree depends on your chosen field of study. Some courses can be completed in as little as a few short weeks. Degree programs can sometimes be completed within 12 months.

Online certificate programs are becoming increasingly more popular with many traditional brick and mortar institutions offering courses online.
