In any given day we sit. That’s right we sit down on something. Whether it’s comfortable or hard or simply uncomfortable a lot of us spend a lot of time just sitting down. With this in mind, designers have been coming up with newer and better ideas for where and how we sit. Take for instance the couple of interesting chairs outlined in the article entitled “Chair Gadgets, Interesting Chair Designs.”

Chair Number Uno, The Side Chair

The chair (pictured below in blue) does not look the least bit comfortable. Can any chair without any sort of padding really be that comfortable? Look at the models face. Does she really look like she is enjoying herself? Her mouth is rather looks like she she’d rather say ouch than ohhh. In any case this chair does have quite a few practical applications. You could use it as a bookshelf and store books underneath or anything else. Maybe this chair is more for stirring up conversations since it looks so unusual? In any case, the chair may or not be the best piece of your office or home.

The Sandbank Chair

I wasn’t sure if this was a preview of a sand bunker or something left over from a war. Looking at the picture below you’ll see it is actually a sofa meant for sitting on. You can control the size of the sofa by adding or subtracting sandbags. Why should we pay someone to build this when we could probably make it ourselves. Taking this same idea, why not take a bunch of sandbags in our living room. Would that make our home look artistic or rather make us look too cheap to buy a real couch? Whatever your opinion, this couch would make a great addition to the backyard, perhaps as a place for our guests to sit as we enjoy “real” furniture.
