Ahh Champagne and Cinnamon Diamonds, Two of my favorite things!. The fancy colored diamonds have more color and class to them than any of the other diamondss. the color is just rich enough to catch you eye but yet transparent enough to catch the light. How are these diamonds made? Where can you purchase them at a decent price. Do they make good engaremnt rings? All this and more...

How are They Made?

Champagne Diamonds come from diamond mines in Australia at the Argyle Mine. 600 million carats of champagne diamonds have been harvested since it discovery in 1985.

Champagne diamonds are categorized into Type one and Type two diamonds. T They mine over 95% of the Champagne diamonds Type I diamonds have traces of Boron or Natural radiation. The amber color is caused by nitrogen in the gem. If traces of boron are found in the diamond there will be a bluish tint to it. If there is some nitrogen in the gen it will be a little green.

Type II champagne diamonds are fairly rare and have some pink red or brown to them. The Type II diamond is pressured during growth and this changes the lattice structure of the diamond.

Cinnamon Diamonds and Chocolate diamonds are also mined from this mine. they are basically the same thing except in different colors. They range in color intensity. The lightest is called C-1 up through the darkest being C-7.

Aborigines state there is a legend responsible for the formation of the of the diamonds. A Barramundi fish escaped through a fisherman's net. The colors that are mined from the earth are to be the colors of the fish!

Growing in popularity!

Brown is said to be the new black! Champagne and cinnamon diamonds are sure to increase in popularity as time wears on. The range of colors matches virtually every skin tone. Swiss designers are being inspired by the colors there fore more champagne diamond jewelry is being produced. Diamond engagement rings are becoming ever so popular with the chocolate diamonds. I know if I were to ever get a ring I would like it to have Champagne and Cinnamon diamonds!

Now you've made me wonder - ARE diamonds really mined and smuggled and hoarded and sold like they portrayed in that movie "Black Diamond"? cuz if so, I will never buy another one. of any kind. But, on the other hand, golly they sure is purty! And if they aren't mined like that somewhere's I would want that kind, for sure! How tuff that must be for all you real purty girls, knowin' what ya know bout diamonds and then some really nice guy gives you one! Do you accept? Do you ask for tickets to Africa instead, where you would find a way help those poor people stuck in the mines? Just stirrin' the mud up a little. Hope I didn't ruffle any feathers! cuz I really don't know the ansurs to any of this!

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Time to buy presents! Which means it's time for Chicagoist's annual gift guide. Even in 2009, with our economy still in, er, "recovery," we're still sweeping up pennies and breaking open the piggy banks to get our friends and families some great gifts, many of them with - of course - a Chicago theme ...
