Change Has Come To America President Obama 20th Jan 2009
47
Although USA president Obama may have started his entire inaugural speech with the theme of moral strength and humble gratitude stating that “My fellow citizens, I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you bestowed, mindful for the tasks before by our ancestors” this is not likely to be the sentence that he goes down in history for.
Historians are expecting USA president Obama’s entire inaugural speech to go down in history among the likes of Lincoln, JFK, and FDR. Of course, the most prominent historical note came when Obama after addressing Muslim and American relations throughout his entire inaugural speech, stated that he is proud to be the 44th president of the United States when 60 years ago his father could not be served at a diner.
USA president Obama’s entire inaugural speech focused around the switch between stating what is currently wrong with the state of America and how it’s “patchwork heritage is a strength not a weakness” and how by working together in the “new era of responsibility” America would once again be ready to lead.
President Obama Making His Inauguration Speech
Amongst the problems that USA president Obama’s entire inaugural speech addressed were rising healthcare costs, a failing education system, and the impending energy crisis. Although some expected Obama to address the war of Iraq and Afghanistan, he actually kept his distance choosing instead to focus on race relations within America and the problems within.
However, it was interesting to note that while many people would have expected his speech to be overrun with references to his role and advancement as an African American president, he pleaded several times throughout his entire inaugural speech for race unity of all nations in particular three mentions of Muslim unity.
Outside of Muslim unity president USA president Obama’s entire inaugural speech focused on how to stabilize the economy which is the most predominant issue on most American’s minds. The most profound statement of the 18 minute speech was a paraphrase of JFK’s which is yet to be answered and only the future will tell as Obama takes the office and his term begins.
“The question is not rather our [American] government is too big or too small, but rather it works. “
