Channels That AdSense
69
Introduction
I want to start out by THANKING shailini for adding a piece on creating channels in analytics (Google), as I looked high and low, even Googled it, and just couldn't find a single tutorial or anything on how to do this.
I made this hub in hopes of helping others to find this information too. The original directions come from this hub Shailini created here. I had a bit of a time finding things based on her quick description so once I did figure out where everything was I made a list of the steps which I'm offering here. Hope this helps.
(I'm also storing it here for future reference should I need it again).
Step By Step "How to set up Google Analytics channels"
This tutorial assumes you:
- Already have a Google AdSense/analytics account
- you have basic to intermediate computer skills
- Log into your AdSense account then click "AdSense setup" should be the second tab on the top next to "reports"
- In there click "AdSense for content" link (should be the top one under the heading "choose the product you'd like to add to your site"
- Once in that screen titled "AdSense for content" you will see the main tabs reports... AdSense setup... etc.. Below that is several sub categories links. Click the one called "Channels"
- “Channels” is where you actually create the channels. You will see a title (Channels) a sub heading (define reporting channels to track...) and below that are three help links (what are channels? guide to using channels and common questions) below that is a boxed in section with a grey box shaped like a folder with a tab at the top (bottom most section) In that section the tab is called "AdSense for content" below that is two choices "custom channels" and "URL Channels". For our purpose you want "URL Channels" the second link.
- Below that once on the URL channels choice (same page just different features to fill in) there is a link called "+Add new URL Channels" Click that
- You will be presented with a new section (will appear below changing again your choices. The big white box where it says "Enter URL's to track, one per line" you will enter your URL that you want to track and click the "Add Channels" button.
- Once you do that your URL will show up below that button. To add other sites just repeat steps 1-7 (you may have to re-enter this page). You will see each one added to the list. Once your finished adding URL's you need to activate them.
- You will see a turquoise shaded area (where the "+Add new URL Channels" link is) and a drop box in there. Click the drop box and select "select all" (if you didn't already check them all) and then repeat selecting "activate checked"
- That's it, your ready to track your pages individually.
- To access your reports just click the "Reports" Tab, about half way down where it says "AdSense for content |> "Top Channels" click that, this will show you all of your "channels" or URL's.
- Click the URL (it's a hyperlink to your analytics report for that page) and see where you stand!
Shortcuts rock!
Advanced "custom URL"

Nice to see a hub from you Jerricho after such a long spell. I have been doing this for months, but it took me a long time to figure out. This hub will definitely help those that are learning how to tie analytics to adsense. Now I just log into my analytics account and I can look at my top visited hubs to see how they are performing.
You should have seen me chasing my tail trying to find a lick of information about how to use channels!!! icarumba! I also posted something about my girlfriend :)
