Introduction
Chanting is for everybody. The fast paced life and the stress & strain it imposes on us has made it indispensable. Its repute as the sole activity of Monks is long gone. It, without any doubt, is an easy to learn and practice, an activity, which will relax you, focus you, motivate you and encourage you to reach the goals you have set for you. The goal can be material or spiritual. A school of thought, that it is connected to and is religious dogma is also outdated. One can be a staunch atheist and still be an excellent practitioner. It is training your mind to be in pace with physical you and you to be synchronized with your thought process.
In most of the relationships of today, both the partners work, sometimes in different shifts, have the normal problems at work, have pride in themselves, consider each other equal, are independent, and have very little time for each other. Life then becomes a mechanical routine. The commute to and from work, can be killing adding to the strain. Then egos do their thing. Comparison of who is doing what and how much to maintain equality in the relationship comes up for heated arguments. Spitefulness follows. Bitterness remains.
The end result is either compromise or parting of ways. If it is compromise, the hurt of the ego makes for a life of repentance that you ever got into it, doubts as to how many times you need to compromise, what if you do not and anxiety about the future of the relationship. If it is parting of ways, it is again anxiety to find a new partner, doubts about your capability to maintain a relationship and anxiety about the future of the relationship. You will reap the same crop, repentance, doubt and anxiety for life.
Stress is the main spoil sport, bringing out the traits negative, such as ego, vengeful attitude and such, while suppressing the positive, like rational thinking, kindness and understanding. There can be several other reasons for the stress to rear its head and kill your life. I lay emphasis on eliminating the constant worry, that, stress promotes. Actual stress has become a part of our daily life and can be combated by chanting.
I emphasize again that your belief and mental state and your desires do not matter. You can chant still! It is easy and best of all it works! The only thing that is do not wish ill of any other person. You will definitely get a piece of that back. Your first project will take time to show results. Start small. Work your way up.
Planning:
- Analyze your situation; ensure your desire is legit.
- Build a firm resolve to chant, to make best out of the situations.
- Announce to the world that you are chanting. The cause and the motivation can be your secret.
- Get some soft, slow paced instrumental music to play while asleep. The beat should be slow and regular.
- Seek a comfortable, private place to chant. Ensure that you will not be startled out of chanting.
- Make time to chant early in the morning.
- Prepare to fail.
- Take each failure as a step towards success.
- Persistence is a virtue.
- Anxiety for result will de-motivate you.
- Find a chant to suit your need. Chants have a new name “Affirmations”. You can find these on the net.

To learn about affirmations.
GET GOING! DO IT!
The process starts the night before. Sleep early. Put on soft music as you go to bed. The volume enough for you to have comfortable sleep. Sub-consciously your heart and lungs will vibrate in tune with the music, giving a relaxed and restful sleep. Wake up just before the Sun rises; stretch, till your muscles relax. Do your toilet thing. Sit for chanting just as the Sun rises; face East and soak in the soft light of sunrise. Sit cross legged with your back straight. If it is not possible, sit in a straight backed chair. Your comfort really matters here.
Forgive yourself first. Get all the guilt off your chest. Be clear headed as you attempt the chanting. Forgive others just as you did yourself. You will lose the baggage of the past and be ready to do new things.
Close your eyes and start you chant. The duration of each session should be about an hour. I found these chants on the net.
If you want a good partner:
• I release any desperation and allow love to find me. I will attract only healthy relationships.
If you have a partner:
• I have a wonderful partner and we are both happy and at peace
Once bitten twice shy:
• I release any desperation and allow love to find me. I will attract only healthy relationships.
If you find these difficult, make your own short and sweet ones. You know where you are, and what you want!
You will find hard to stay awake and concentrate. Count down 200 to 0 slowly and in rhythm with your breath. (Do not reverse count while driving! Remember sheep over the fence method of getting sleepy?). One inhalation and, one exhalation per number. Slow and easy! This will wake you and increase your concentration. The extra oxygen you get by breathing rhythmically will oxygenate your blood and is a free gift from nature. . If your mind wanders, order it to stay on course. Correct yourself. Be consistent in regular chant as well as the affirmations, frequent changes will throw the sub conscious into a confused frenzy. Not good at all! Practice and perfect this, and before you know your life would have changed.

Very nice hub, I do some chanting every day usually around lunchtime, I find it very useful to re-charge and refresh the mind. I do it slightly differently to this in that I use a random meaningless phrase.
Kiran, Thank you very much!
HC, Good for you! Just include an affirmation and work wonders! Thank you.
