OK, so now beyond the types of ways to make money, let's discuss what it takes to make money. Here are some points to consider:
1. Be guided by what interests you. If you are familiar with products, it will help you to sell well. Passion, expertise, and determination are qualities you will need to draw upon as pursue your online business.
2. Drive and Commitment. Make a plan and stick to it. Set goals and conditions of success. We talk about a business plan in a later article.
3. Learn, learn, learn... You will need to learn the ins and outs, and learn what is real and achievable. Some useful ideas: get mentoring, sign up for courses, subscribe to newsletters, read e-books and participate in forum discussions.
4. The next step is the first big step or Phase 1 - creating your website. A website will be your main tool for marketing and promoting your products or services.
5. The second big step, or Phase 2, is learning how to promote your site. You want strategies for getting targeted visitors to your site and a web design that can then turn them into buyers. Targeted visitors are the traffic you want, not just anyone who will go to your site and bounce away. Go here for more discussion about Internet Marketing.
6. Phase 3 is to develop a content site and show your expertise. Studies show it can take 4 or 5 visits before a visitor buys. At first they might be visiting your site to check it out. They might be there to learn about you or your product and/or service, so you will need to develop some interesting and useful content and information for them to get interested in.
7. Another Phase 3 step is to create a relationship with your visitors. As visitors rely on you for your expertise in your field, more and more people will buy your products and/or services or those that you recommend. A newsletter or an eBook are some great techniques to establish relationships with your potential customers. When they sign up, you can send more information and offers to them.
