The Tests begin

Having engraved his personal rune Dagaz returned to His instructor, for his next task. As he approached, the Instructor began to walk over to the second station, as he walked off he beckoned Dagaz to follow and listen as he gave his next task to the Champion in making.

" Now you have learnt the power held within your Runeblade, You must now learn to harness the power you have engraved within it."

"There" he gestured to the centre of the room. " You can see those initiates, they have been found unworthy to further their training. Yet one chance remains for them, and they shall be your test of your understanding and control with the power you wiled. Take the key you are about to be given and unlock one of them, allow them to place upon their Armour and take up their weapon of choice. Then you must fight him or her to the death kill or be killed. For the hunger shall be upon you soon. When it does come forth, you shall feel pain immeasurable . You must sate your hunger. Only by the flowing blood of your fallen foes shall the pain and hunger leave you."

Instructor Razuvious handed Dagaz a key. It seemed it was made more of shadow than a metal. Dagaz holding the key tightly in his hand walked over and down the stairs to the floor. Where those he had cast his eye over before, now awaited their fate.

Slowly walking round the circle of chained initiates he looked at each, all were of different races and sex's , gnomes humans night elf's a troll and there a male tureen. If he was to prove himself, he did not wish to do it against one he knew he could easily beat in battle, he decided to battle the biggest and strongest of them all. which was the Tureen Male.

Dagaz walked over to the wall and slipped the key into the lock, upon the twist the chains melted away allowing the Tureen to stand, their was no words spoken between the two. The Tureen male knew what this was about and what he must do.

Having prepared himself he stood before Dagaz a look of mirth upon his face, it was clear he was of the opinion that a mere gnome would be his salvation to return to the ranks, while the gnome before him would be as others dead and used in some other way to serve the Scourge.

The Tureen came at him with full force, knocking the little gnome back a step before he recovered and slipped lithely aside as he did so a frozen wind leapt from his sword slowing the tureen as willed for, As he turned Dagaz willed a crippling disease upon his foe. The two moved about each other, the clashing of their two swords colliding with force, which rang out in the hall. Dagaz had taken several blows yet he did not allow fear to enter him, He would not lose this battle of life and death.

Up and around the arena, had gathered spectators. Mentors, Instructor s and fellow Death Knights, watched as the pitched fight of opposites played out before them. Dagaz was un aware of them they did not even enter his vision of thought as he focused his mind, feeling the power surge through him and his blade. Now his Runeblade felt apart of him an extension of his mind and will and as he did a smirk came over him hidden beneath his cowl, the tureen for his part was not only losing his strength with every blow that landed from this gnome , a look of uncertainty could now be seen. The Tureens growing doublet of victory only served to feed Dagaz resolve and strengthen him. Each blow Dagaz dealt was infused with the power he now understood, felt and now fully controlled. With the final death blow surprise was the death mask the Tureen wore with his final breath.

It was only now the Crowd roared with approval, drawing Dagaz attention to those gathered around and above the pit. Though he was unsure if the approval was for him, or just for the entertainment he had provided. Then as quickly as the crowd of spectators had gathered they dispersed, only Instructor Razuvious remained standing at the top of the stairs. As Dagaz walked to him victorious the fallen tureen's body was dragged off by two ghouls.

"You have learnt well and are the champion I knew you to be Dagaz."

It was the first time Dagaz himself had seen any measure of pleasure with his progress from the Instructor.

Now you have proven yourself worthy of a true Death Knight, Our Lord awaits you, he wish's to speak with you, go to him. Suffer well Brother."

Dagaz simply nodded and walked off making his way to his awaiting King

As he left the presence of his Instructor, making his way once more through the hall he contemplated upon the battle that had just taken place, it almost past his attention. That by completing his task, he had learnt a new lesson. It was not just he had beaten the Taruen with his Runeblade and strength of will alone, that was firmly intertwined with his Runeblade, or with his use of the newly found connection and power . It was more how he sought and captured victory. He won in equal part's there was no doubt that because he had used the sword as an extension of himself challenging his rage and will through the blade. Yet it was also due to the Taruen's own self doubt's. The Tauren feeling his victory slipping from his grasp and he had no control over it, no strength to re gain that which he was losing, and in doing so he showed his weakness and emitted fear, he had not shown it upon his face of grim determination. Yet.... yes Dagaz caught it like a scent, and he became strengthened by it, both in body and mind. A lesson he would do well to recall and a talent he would hone.
