Charlotte has struggled with weight problems over the years but she looks fabulous here.
Charlotte has struggled with weight problems over the years but she looks fabulous here.

Charlotte Church first hit British television screens as a child. Aged eleven Charlotte appeared on British morning television singing, Pie Jesu and, as they say, the rest is history.

Charlotte was originally called Charlotte Maria Reed. She was born in Llandaff, Wales on 21st February 1986.Tomorrow then will be her24th birthday. A lot has happened to Charlotte since she had her big break aged eleven.

Her early childhood was spent with her Mum as her parents were separated. In 1998 Charlotte was adopted by her Mum's second husband James Church.

Charlotte's first television appearance was actually not quite an appearance. She performed the song Pie Jesu over the telephone to the show This Morning. It was 1997 and to be the year when Charlotte singing career kicked off.

In no time at all Charlotte was performing before huge audiences at venues such as Cardiff Arms Park and The Royal Albert Hall, in London. In 1997 she also opened the show for Dame Shirley Bassey, in Antwerp.

In 1998 Charlotte began studying at Howell's School Llandaff, where she had been offered a scholarship. After signing with Sony BMG and manager Jonathon Shalit, Charlotte's first album was released. Voice of an Angel was to make Charlotte the youngest ever artist to reach the number one spot on the British Classical charts.

More success was to follow but by the dawn of the 21st Century Charlotte was moving over to pop influenced music. She was now a teenager after all. By 2005 Charlotte had both feet frimly in the pop camp. Despite various releases her pop career has had mixed reviews. For most people Charlotte's heyday was in her young classical days.

In 2006 Charlotte and Sony went their separate ways. By now her musical tastes had moved one and in her personal life Charlotte was to reveal she was pregnant. Charlotte now has two children Ruby and Dexter who was born in 2009.

Charlotte's innocent childhood days were well and truly behind her.

Programs such as The Charlotte Church Show portrayed Charlotte as a ladette. This term refers to those young ladies who are anything but ladies. Her show follows the format of many other chat shows and has plenty of guests.

The talk is often a little naughty and because of the show is usually aired later at night.

Charlotte is till very young and hopefully her career will settle down. She has a bubbly warm personality and still has a great voice. It is just a shame that currently she is not making the most of her talents.
