Here are some ideas for recession-proofing your dating with an emphasis on creativity and originality.
Instead of eating out, have a picnic or bar-b-que. Make a small fire out of driftwood on the beach and roast wieners and marshmallows while watching the stars come out. Try not to go to caveman on her.
Build a raft together on the beach out of driftwood.or try stacking stones or driftwood in shapes.
Invite her to check out your garden plot.Bring some cream to try with the giant new strawberries or a vinaigrette to go with fresh greens. Pick some apples or blackberries together.
Go to a drum circle together. In Vancouver there's a Sunday Drum Circle on third beach. Rent drums from the leader for a few bucks and get your inner rhythm and dance on.
There's always the "Let's meet for a cup of coffee." McDonalds' serves
a decent cup of Joe and it only costs $1.39 - with free refills. And wait there's more. A free muffin thrown in. Each bring a book or a poem. Or have a word war - you each get two minutes to write a story, Then read the stories to each other.
Visit the Art Gallery or a Museum on the "Pay what you can night."
Thursday evening here in Vancouver. Before you go read a book on art
appreciation or the featured artist so you have something to talk
about. For example red colors appear closer and green-blue further
away. That's why traffic lights use red for stop and green for go. The
brightest spot in the picture is where the artist wants you to focus. You get the idea.
On a sunny day what can beat roller-blading, cycling, hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. But hopefully not all of them. Followed by a trip to the chiropractor to sort out all the twisted joints. Joking aside - followed by sharing a giant cone of Mondo Gellati on Denman Street!
