Gaming Computer Choices

There are a number of ways to go about getting cheap gaming computers. There are three ways to get a good gaming computer without spending a lot of money. You can upgrade your current desktop computer, buy a pre-built gaming computer or best of all, build your own gaming computer. All of these options will provide you with cheap gaming computers.

First you will need to decide how much you are willing to spend on your gaming computer then you can figure out what computer hardware to buy based on how much you want to spend. You can buy a pre-built gaming computer but you will need to research the components to make sure they are high quality and will perform well.

If you have a desktop computer and want a gaming computer, you could upgrade some or all of the computer components to satisfy your gaming requirements. This could range from a simple memory upgrade or CPU upgrade to a complete motherboard, CPU and memory upgrade. This is one of the cheapest ways to get a good gaming computer since you may be able to use some of the components.

The third way to get into cheap gaming computers is to build it from scratch. It is not hard at all and anyone can do it. You just need to read the instruction carefully and take your time. You will be surprised how much money you can save by building it yourself.

Cheap Gaming Computers - Pre-built

If you just want to buy a new gaming computer that is ready to play then you can buy a pre-built computer from one of the many computer manufactures on the Internet. You can find some cheap gaming computers on ebay. You can also find some good deals online. There are many manufactures today that make descent gaming computers.

The only concern with buying a pre-built gaming computer is the computer hardware that is in the computer. Take note of this and research the components. They may good quality or may not. This is important. See if you can find reviews on all of the components. Then you will know what kind of gaming computer you will get. If the components are not good, do not buy it. You will regret it and probably have problems.

Cheap Gaming Computers - Upgrades

Another option to look at when wanting a gaming computer is to upgrade your current computer. It's very easy and anyone can do it. Sometimes you may only need to upgrade the memory or video card. It really depends on how old the computer is and what kind of games you want to play. Computer components are pretty cheap and very easy to install. Even replacing the motherboard is fairly simple.

Depending on the types of games you want to play, you should shoot for a 3.0 GHz dual core processor either Intel or AMD, 2 GB of memory, 500 watt power supply, SATA hard drive, video card with 256 MB of memeory or more and Windows XP Home. This setup will make a really nice gaming computer. If you run more advanced games then get a higher end video card like an ATI Radeon HD 4890 or Geforce GTX 275. These video cards will run just about any game at the highest settings.

You could upgrade an existing computer for about $300 depending on what you need to upgrade.

Cheap Gaming Computers - Build Your Own

This is by far the best way to get a top end cheap gaming computer. I just built one and only spent $800. It's totally custom and screams through any video game with the settings maxed out. Here is what I used in my cheap gaming computer:

  • Asus M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard
  • AMD Phenom II X2 550 processor
  • Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4890 video card
  • Corsair 750 Watt TX power supply
  • Kingston HyperX 2 GB memory kit (1800 MHz OC)
  • Western Digital 500 GB 7200 RPM SATA drive
  • Cooler Master V8 heatsink
  • Antex 300 Computer Case
  • 1 extra 120 MM Antec fan
  • Windows XP Home

Most people think it is difficult to build a gaming computer but is is really easy. Just buy a computer book on hardware and read it. Then become familiar with the various components. Take you time and do not force anything if it does not want to go into place. Be very careful with processors because the have hundreds of tiny pins on the underside. Do not bend any of them!!

This is a high end gaming computer for sure and only costs $800 or so. It is made from the highest quality components and will last a long time without any problems.

Best of all...it is extremely fast before over clocking. The Asus motherbaord comes with overclocking software that makes it easy. The AMD Phenom II 550 can be overclocked to run at around 3.7 GHz.
