Saving Money With Used Apple Laptops

Apple Computer makes some of the best laptops in the world. Unfortunately, you pay for the privilege of owning one of owning one of these fine machines. Not only are brand new Apple laptops quite expensive, but the used ones also hold their resale value very well, making them quite expensive. Finding even a cheap used Apple laptop, it seems, is not as easy as you would hope. However, there are some bargains to be had out there, and this article will help you out with finding them.

The key to getting a bargain on one of these laptops is to understand exactly what you want, how much it should cost, and what the best places to buy are. This hub will help you cover all of this ground.

Finding What You Want

Sure, we would all like a brand new unibody MacBook Pro, but if you could afford that you probably wouldn't be reading this article. The key to getting what you want is to find the right laptop for your needs. You might find that unless you are doing very serious photo or video editing, you can get away with a laptop several years old that might work perfectly well for your needs.

The key is understand Apple's lineup of laptops. Currently, there are the new unibody MacBooks and MacBook Pros, as well as the old white MacBook, which was the original MacBook design. These white MacBooks can often be had at lower prices by people upgrading to new designs. The older MacBook Pros from this series can also be good buys. Sometimes, you will find that they don't really have enough RAM for today's computing needs, but this can often be upgraded cheaply, so don't let this scare you off from what is otherwise a bargain.

Going back to the olden days, we have the iBooks and the PowerBooks, which run off the older G4 series processors. Many applications can still run on these, but you're probably better off going with a newer Intel based Mac unless you're really tight on cash and absolutely must have an Apple laptop.

My personal pick for a bargain: a 15" MacBook Pro from the previous series is still a great machine at a price that isn't too horrible. Go for a 13" white MacBook for a bargain, but be prepared for it to be at least slightly dirty, since the white was quite attractive to smudges and dirt.

Getting The Best Price

If you're interested in getting the best possible price, I would reccomend going with either Craiglists or an online auction site. The module below has some good deals on used Apple laptop auctions. The key with buying any sort of used laptop is to be sure that you are getting what you think you are getting. If you are buying locally, use the machine thoroughly before buying. If you are buying online, you need to make sure that you trust the seller. Look into their feedback score, and see if they have a good history.

One trick that works well for eBay auctions is to check the completed listings for the item you are looking for, and see what kind of deals people have gotten recently. Take one of the lower prices, and try holding out for something this cheap in the future. Look for listings that aren't as well promoted, sometimes you can get deals this way.

In truth, the best way to get a deal on your laptop is to be patient. Deals come up, if you give them time.

The Best Apple Laptop Deal?

Conclusions

I hope this has proven helpful to anyone out there looking for some good deals on some awesome Apple laptops.  They will never be as cheap as PCs, but for those of us who love Apple, it will always be worth.  Thanks for reading.
