Cheap Wigs
73If you're looking for wigs, there are
plenty of places to shop. However, if you're looking for cheap wigs,
there are limited places. Shopping online can also have many pitfalls
in terms of fit.
Wigs today are wonderfully popular.
This makes it a lot easier to find the styles, colors and particular
needs you might have. The price of wigs usually depends on the
materials used to make it and the process in which it is made.
Wigs are made in two different ways.
The first process is weaving the ends onto thread called a “weft”.
Once a weft is completed, it is attached to a net. This was done by
hand until recent years. The other method of wig making is using a
hook to grab the strands and pulling them through the net or
material. The benefits of the hook method are the wig looks more
natural. More expensive wigs are formed in this manner, by hand.
If you're looking to have a wig made,
be prepared to have your head measured. The measurement process is to
flatten the existing hair and make a mold or pattern from adhesive.
It's a bit like paper-mâché, only
with different appliques. Then the wig maker forms a base from that
'mold'. The resulting bases are matched to the skin color and made to
look like a natural scalp. They are called “lace front wigs”
because of the way the hair is laced through the front. The lace hair
wig is one of the most popular wigs available. And it is also one of
the most expensive.
Another factor
which can influence cost, is the material the hair from which the wig
is made. Wigs can be made from animal long animal hair like from
goats or yaks. The processing of the hair from these animals is done
by hand and adds significant cost to the wig. Less expensive wigs
have the cortex of the hair removed using a special solution so that
the wig may be machine sorted. The hand processed wigs are
process-free, however, the processed wigs have materials added to
make the hair appearance more attractive.
Once the hair is sorted and the base is made, the wig maker can then begin pulling strands through the net to create the hair piece.
Today there are many cheap wigs available for all kinds of purposes. Halloween of course is one of the recognizable occasion to wear a wig, but there are many others. With the popularity of wigs re-emerging, because of celebrities like Cher and Dolly Parton, wigs can now be worn everyday without any stigma attached.
How much do wigs cost?
Because of the
handiwork involved, wigs made by hand usually start at at least $250.
Human hair wigs can range in price but generally start at about $100.
However, you can buy very cheap wigs, which are synthetic, for basic
purposes. For cancer patients, you can usually find wigs which are
donated and sometimes even the wig maker will donate their time for a
specialty wig.
When my mother got cancer 2 years ago and had to shave her head, she chose a wig similar to her regular hair style. It is due to the incredible wig makers that such wigs are possible at inexpensive prices. With cancer patients in mind I give my first wig choice. Pink for the cure.
Pink
is such a pretty color and it is my number one choice for wigs for a
very important reason. While many people associate pink wigs with the
60's and go go dancing, there is another very important reason to
wear a pink wig.
I
would like to point out that pink is the color for the cure for
breast cancer and it is a great way of showing your support by
wearing a wig to a Race For The Cure walk. Please don't hesitate to
purchase a pink wig and wear it on breast cancer awareness month,
along with anything pink you can find. You can read more about breast
cancer awareness month on the wiki page. Breast cancer awareness
month is held every October around the globe.
Since has such great meaning, it's also a great reminder to wear it on Halloween for your costume.

Supermodel – short and sassy, red is the sharpest styles
Goth – perhaps goth is more appropriate with black, but I always associate that bright red color with it.
