Ukraine is a great place to discover. There are many places to visit. And there are many ways how to get there. Here I'm going to give you few suggestions how to get cheap trip to Ukraine from Europe.

Low-cost airlines

There are 2 airlines fly to from Europe: Wizz Air and Germanwings.

Wizz Air flies to Kyiv and Lviv.

To Kyiv it flies from London-Luton, Oslo, Krakow/Katowice, Dortmund, Cologne,

To Lviv it flies from Dortmund.

Germanwings flies to Kiev from Cologne.

Train

Taking direct trains from Europe it is rather expensive. For example, to come from Krakow to Kiev will cost approx. 65-70 euro, from Zagreb around 120 Euro. But prices within the country are low.

Ukraine has direct connection with 13 Western countries:

- Poland (Gdynia (from Odessa), Przemyśl, Krakow, Wroclaw, Warsaw, Poznan)

- Germany (Berlin – from Odessa, Kharkov, Kyiv, Simferopol, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk)

- Hungary (Budapest)

- Serbia (Belgrade)

- Macedonia (Skopje)

- Greece (Thessaloniki)

- Croatia (Zagreb)

- Bulgaria (Varna, Sofia)

- Czech Republic (Prague, Olomouc)

- Montenegro (Bar)

- Romania (Bucharest)

- Slovak Republic (Bratislava, Žilina)

- Austria (Vienna)

Buses

There are cheap buses from Warsaw to Lviv. It departs approx. at 9 p.m. and arrives to Lviv at 6 p.m. Cost: around 70 zloty (17 euro)

Buses from Chech republic: Prague, Brno, Olomouc. From Prague to Kiev trip lasts for 24 hours. Cost: 55 – 65 euro. But it’s better to take bus to Lviv (from Prague: 36 Euro, 18 hours) and then take train to any place you want!

Different kinds of transport with few changes

It could seem most tiring but most interesting way.

From Poland:

  1. Take a train to Przemyśl (Eastern part of Poland)
  2. There are buses from Przemyśl to Medyka (near train station) - cost 4 zloty (1 euro). They are every 10-20 min. Trip takes 10 min.
  3. Medyka is a little town near the Ukrainian – Polish border. Their you just cross the border on foot.
  4. You are in Shegyni - village on the border from another side. From their buses go to Lviv, to the central train station every 30 min till 7 p.m. Cost 15 gryvna (1,5 Euro). Trip lasts 2 hours.
  5. You are in Lviv and can enjoy a city or go anywhere else by train.

From Hungary:

  1. From Budapest you need to take train to Zahony. (approx. 20 Euro) Trip duration: 5 hours
  2. Zahony is a town on the border. Here you take train to Chop. These are usually 2 little vagons more similar to tram then to train. Ticket aprrox. 2 Euro. Trip lasts 17 min.

  3. Chop is a little town on the border. From Chop you can take train to other Ukrainian cities.
