While there are free online high schools, the rules are quite limiting for who may access them. If the goal is to earn a high school diploma online, then you may want to look at these five schools below.

Penn Foster High School is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools and is located in Pennsylvania.

Citizens' High School is located in College Park, Florida. The school is nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council.

North Dakota Center for Distance Education is, not surprisingly, in North Dakota and is accredited by the North Central Association.

Orion High School is a candidate for accreditation with both CITA and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.It is located in Midland, Texas.

The American Academy is located in Salt Lake Cit, Utah, and is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.The school offers 233 accredited online high school courses.
