Chers daughter Chastity Bono has recently started the transformation from female to male with a sex change operation. Chastity Bono revealed her sexual orientation publicly at the age of 18. According to her representative Howard Bragman, she has made the decision to live her(his) life by honoring his true identity.

Chastity will now be known by the name of Chaz Bono, honoring her gender transformation. He (chastity) has asked for the media to keep attention to a minimum, as he (Chaz) goes thru the process of this transformation. Chaz is hoping this will help the general public understand the transgender lifestyle, and accept them for who they are.

Generally "transitioning" involves some type of hormone treatment, and in alot of cases surgery. At this point, there have been no confirmations made to which or what methods may be used.

Chaz Bono is grateful for all of his family and loved ones support thru all of this. Cher , wife of Sonny Bono who passed away in 1998 of a skiing accident, was not comfortable at first and cringed at the idea of her only daughter being a lesbian. Sice that time over a decade ago ,Cher has come to terms with it ,and accepts her daughters sexuality.
