Ki / Chi / Chakra / Earth Energy

Ki , chi or charka energy is the energy of the universe. This energy is everywhere and is like the earths energy it surrounds us its there when we wake up and we are all one because of this energy that binds us all together.

This earth energy can be very powerful and there are chi masters out there that use it for chi healing and other who use chi energy for martial arts (Tai chi). Chi or Ki in our daily lives can provide many benefits for example chi’s ability to help you deal with and defend against sickness.

The Last Breath

One of my favourite stories of the strength of meditation is about the tale of a man living in the mountains in Asia. He has developed a severe case of tuberculosis and was told he had only a few days to live.

When he heard this news he walked to the peak of a mountain and sat down next to a large rock and started to meditate. While he was meditating he had accepted his fate and was totally free, his body and mind where working together perfectly and he had an incredible sense of calm.

He sat and meditated on the top of that mountain waiting for death; just sitting and meditating waiting for it take him away. He sat there waiting for death and it never came :) People say that the meditation and the perfect connection between mind and body healed his condition.

Meditation Exercise

I will go through a basic meditation technique that you can try out. The main aim of this meditation exercise is to unify the body and mind and build a strong level of chi energy and awareness in your body.

The meditation exercise comes from the chi kung, qi qong practices and is a popular practice started by the Chinese. There are so many different chi / ki meditation techniques and practices but they are very similar in meditation practices and theory behind the meditation practices.

The first thing to do before meditation is to shut off your mobile phone or any electronic devices you have around you, and make sure you can sit in a comfortable position. It is preferable to sit in a meditation pose but sitting in a comfortable chair will be sufficient. The main thing is to ensure that you sit there silently.

There are 7 steps in this meditation exercise and will take around 20-30 minutes in total to complete. You may feel like this is a long time for beginners so you can build up to it there’s nothing worse than sitting there wondering how long it’s been.

Steps

ONE

Use a natural breathing rhythm, concentrating on breathing deep into the lower abdomen. Focus your eyes (open) on a point directly in front of you and at eye level. Do not look up or down the distance between you and the object your are looking at should be around 6 feet.  This step should last 3 to 5 minutes.

TWO

Keep breathing naturally , but now shift your eyes to a point on a 45 degree angle down in front of your at a distance of around 3 feet.   This step should last 3 to 5 minutes.

THREE

Continue natural breathing while shifting and fixing the eyes to a point directly between your feet , only tilt your head slightly its your eyes that should be looking between your feet.  This step should last 3 to 5 minutes.

FOUR Continue natural breathing, now bring the eyes together and focus on a point on the tip of your nose , the aim is to get the eyes look at the same unified point. Looking at your nose can make your eyes hurt sometimes so move them out if you feel uncomfortable and focus on something close (even sit closer to a wall).  This step should last 3 to 5 minutes.

FIVE Allow your eyes to close, still maintaining your closed eyes on the position at the tip of your nose. Continue breathing naturally and feel the air enter the nose and descend into your lower abdomen. The air should feel cool as you inhale and warm as you exhale. This step should last 3 to 5 minutes.

SIX  Continue natural breathing rhythm and listen to the sound of the air as it flows in and out. This step should last 3 to 5 minutes.

SEVEN  Continue breathing and shift your concentration to your lower abdomen as you breath in and out. Now with your eyes still closed imagine as if you are looking into your abdomen.

Now change your breathing to follow this pattern, breathing in a three, three, six pattern, inhale for 3 counts (follow heartbeat rhythm), stop breathing for 3 counts, and then exhale for six counts.

We are coming close to the end now, keep still and do not move to avoid scattering the chi energy that you have worked hard to build up. Now imagine the impurities from your body leaving you as you exhale through your mouth.  Now before opening your eyes, rub your palms together counter clockwise and place them over you yes.

Inhale naturally, absorbing the warmth into the eyes and then bring your hand down to your lower abdomen. Do this three times and then open your eyes slowly. Wait for the body to cool down before moving.  That’s it , meditating daily can bring your health and unify your body and mind. Good luck all

Very good hub. I ve been practicing Reiki and Meditate regularly. Ive been reading on the topic of Qigong and even posted a video on it on my site. I am interested in learning more about it and eventually practicing it. I think it would be very complimentary to my meditation practice.

Good job.

I think we need more hubs like this one, to really help people feel comfortable with meditation and have it presented in such a way that will encourage them to try it.

Be peaceful on your way,
