Lately everything I do online has been turning into keyword research. It's really kind of boring but also kind of neat at the same time. My latest discovery has been Chicago DJ. I actually happened on it by accident because my husband is a DJ and I was helping him search online for some gigs. Especially with the Graduation and Wedding seasons coming on us, it's a great part time earning.

So, I'm sure if you either know me or looked at my profile, you may have noticed I am in NJ and are probably wondering - why Chicago DJ? Well, I'm going to make this as short as possible. I have been a little curious lately and experimenting some with the 30 Day HubChallenge regarding people's search patterns. So when looking for DJ gigs for my husband, I decided to run a quick search to see how many people globally Googled "DJ" in a month.

I thought more than 1% of us searched for a DJ when I saw the number 540 Million ... image courtesy of svilen001 @ sxc.hu

Can you believe the result was 45,000,000! Yes, 45 Million! I thought it would be a big number, but I didn't think it'd be that big. And 45 million x 12 months = about 540 MILLION searches for the keyword "dj" worldwide in a year on Google! And I say about because I'm sure the results vary. And that doesn't even include variations of the term "DJ" such as wedding DJ, DJ wanted, DJ needed, Chicago DJ, etc.

Based on the POP Clock provided by the Census Bureau, the estimated world population (upon publishing this) is 6,781,430,981. I wanted to know what percentage of the world searches for the term "dj" in a month but I forgot how to figure out percentages. I ended up finding thethe formula on WikiAnswers. Basically it's the smaller number divided by the larger one. So in this case: 540,000,000/6,781,430,981 = 0.07% So less than 1% of us search the net for a DJ. But that doesn't include infants and children ;-)

Anyway, back to the reason I sat down to hubbing. Well, besides to make more money with the HubPages HubChallenge and add more hubs to my 30 Day HubChallenge. I decided to do a Hub on the search term Chicago DJ because it got a nice bit of search volume and it also has a nice estimated CPC. I began to realize, while helping my hubbie search for and advertise for work, that I don't think a lot of people realize just how easy it is to find a local DJ, in this case a Chicago DJ.

Hey, those are the same players my hubbie uses - Denon DN-S3500's! ... image courtesy of tome213 @ sxc.hu

Do you need a Chicago DJ?

A few years ago a new way developed to place classified ads - and it was online via site called Craiglist (yes, I know it's spelled wrong - I'm testing something). Can you believe 6,600 people a month worldwide search Google for craigslists org? And who knew - Craigslist now even has a Wikipedia page!

Yeah, but to wrap it up, what I wanted to say is if you are a DJ in need of work, or if you are searching for a local DJ or even a Chicago DJ, check out Craigslist classifieds. Once you choose your location (worldwide options) narrowed down to the city, there's a column below the "Jobs" column titled "Gigs." At least that's the case for U.S. craigslists. Not sure what the case is internationally. So, yeah, in that Gigs column you can search for DJ's or post wanted ads for a DJ (or if you are a DJ, for hire).

Have fun partying!
