What does a puppy buyer need to know if there are children at home?

There are many things to consider before puppy buying when you have kids.

If you have children, then the following list of advices could help to keep your child safe.

*A puppy bite is someting must be avoided.

*Dalmations may look cute in the movies but after one took the ear off a five-year old, vets agreed this was not a dog for young children.

Dalmations left dozens of homeless pets after parents discovered dalmations and kids don't mix.

*Children with whom the dog was familiar were more likely to be bitten in relation to food guarding, while unfamiliar children were more likely to be bitten in relation to territory guarding.

*Children should never left unsupervised with a dog.

*Terriers can be a terror.

*And any dog with "bull" in its name can be a slobberer.

*Labrador retriever, golden retriever, or cocker spaniel, or or a working breed, Bernese mountain dog, Siberian husky, like a Bullmastiff, or Great Dane are good sporty dogs for an active home.

*If allergies are a problem, there are wide variety of dogs that sheds a little or none (i.e.the Poodle and Poodle mixes). Also, try wiping the dog's coat with a dryer sheet once a day to pick up excess dander and loose hairs.

*Don't choose a herding dog if you are not active. Border collies, corgis, and Shetland sheepdogs are very smart, obedient, and trainable, but they bore easily. Another red flag with children - these breeds may try to treat them like sheep and start herding them. Avoid the puppy bite with these types of breeds.
