The poem, Children of Purpose, was written by request as an encouragement to children who are caught up between parents who are caught up in the court system dealing with child support and or parental rights. The inspiration came mostly from feeling the pain of children within my own family, but also from what I see and hear during my weekly commute, on the news, and what I know to be true in other families I’ve known personally. It was my intention to emphasize for young people that they are not at fault for whatever situations they are born into, and that no matter how painful their experiences are God loves them, sees them and has a purpose for their lives.

The cycle of generational curses has children, who have not been parented, bearing children with no parenting skills to rear them effectively. Everybody is in pain reacting to each other and the children are feeling at fault, unloved, and unhappy. I wrote this poem to encourage their spirits and affirm their souls from the word of God. I pray that in the reading and hearing of this poem HOPE would be stirred up in the core of their very being and they would connect with their Creator to rise above their circumstances and conditions, soaring in excellence toward their divine purpose. In Jesus name, amen.

You were created and born with a purpose
to live life abundantly, loved, and free from fear.
Regardless of who your parents are,
you were planned – you are God’s intentional idea!

Don’t believe the lies other people have told you
or the negative criticisms and profane poison they spread.
God is clear about His love and acceptance of children.
To know the truth, check the Bible and believe what He said.

Before you were formed in your mother’s womb,
God knew you and wrote your days in His Book of Life.
His plans are to prosper you and give you hope and a future
through the saving blood and precious grace of Jesus Christ.

It’s been said, “Man’s rejection is God’s protection.”
God understands all the pain and struggles you may go through.
He longs to heal the emotional and physical wounds you may encounter,
and that you know this life is not your fault and He dearly cares for you.

Learn of the Creator, who loves you unconditionally:
He sacrificed his only Son for your salvation and the debt of SIN has been paid!
Nothing is too hard for God – the situations in your life can and will be changed.
Know that His works are marvelous and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made!

Remember that the battle is not yours alone.
God is available and He’s on your side.
He will empower you to overcome life’s challenges
and work out everything all right.
