Statistics of the Abused Child
65
Below are statistic of child abuse. We as people are obligate to report child abuse, but we don't because we don't want to get involved. Here are some statistics that we should really pay attention to.
- Over 1,500 children die each year in the America from child abuse and neglect
- Over 900,000 children are abused in America in a year
- It is reported that over 80 percent of children are abused by one of the child's parent
- 70 percent of these children are under the age of three years old
- The most common form of child abuse is neglect, followed by physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, and lastly, medical neglect
Children of child abuse come from all socioeconomic, races, and backgrounds.
Nationally, 56% of the children were neglected, 25% were physically abused, 13% were sexually abused, 6% were emotionally abused, and 13% were classified as suffering from some other form of abuse.
Verbal abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, phycological abuse and medical neglect are some abuses to mention. Unfortunately, some of the abuses go hand in hand. So if you report a seen abuse then you will more than likely be saving the child of an unseen abuse. I have witnessed this first hand. The mental abuse or psychological abuse that comes from this is the hardest to fix. If it is ever fixed.
Most of your criminals have had some type of abuse. Just maybe if we get help sooner then we would be able to stop crime.
I promise you that if you save a child it will be one of the most rewarding things that you do in your life.
