You’ve settled on a theme for your child’s room, purchased his/her bedroom furniture, and set it up in the perfect floor plan. Is there anything missing? As we all know, children can’t grow up fast enough. They mimic everything we do, from putting on makeup to shaving to driving a car! Children want to feel as though they too are involved in the action. For example, at the grocery store, allowing your child to push the childrens cart makes him/her feel special and needed. Or giving your child an old phone so that he/she can pretend that they are talking to their friends! At home there are many ways to help make your child feel special. One way is to make a part of the house or piece of furniture there very own. Finding childrens chairs for your toddler is a great way to start. This chair will be theirs and no one else’s. It will make them feel special and more grown up! When you go outside and sit in your chair to read, your child can be right beside you! When you are relaxing in the reclining chair, your toddler can sit and recline with you in his/her very own childrens chair. A simple step like this can help make your child feel like a big girl or boy.

Know What You Want

They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, fabrics, colors, you name it! There are few factors that come into play when choosing a chair for your child. First, where will this chair be? Are you looking for an outdoor chair, a chair for reading, a childrens rocking chair? Durability is another important factor when picking out a chair for your child. Children get dirty, will draw on any surface they see, and tend to get rough and tough with their belongings; so it is important to purchase a chair that will withstand your toddlers growing, playing, and overall energy! Even more important than durability is safety. Make sure the chair you choose is sturdy and does not tip over easily.

Get Your Child Invloved

I bet you didn’t realize how many chairs are out on the market for your child. Once you have determined what type of chair you are looking for a great way to get your child involved is to have him/her come with you on the hunt! Ask your toddler what color he/she would like or where he/she wants to use the chair and have it stored. This way, you know your child will like the chair and use it! Make suggestions such as a “Reading Chair”, a “Lounging Chair”, a “Desk Chair”, a “Bean Bag Chair”, etc. Children will often want a chair that is a replica of one used in the house, like Dad’s favorite chair to watch TV or Mom’s favorite chair to read. Another fun way to involve your child is to purchase a wooden chair and allow them to paint it the way they like. This can create a great way to include your toddler and allow him/her to express their own style!

Keep It Simple

Your child is bound to have many ideas surrounding what color, type, or shape he/she is looking for. It is important to tailor their wants to a more specific type so you have an idea before going shopping with your child. Keeping in mind your child is growing and changing quickly, your best option is to choose a chair that you can add to or change as your toddler changes. The more neutral the chair the more wiggle room you will have in the future to change it and add on to it. A great option is buying a chair that has interchangeable covers, which you can throw in the washer and dryer! Finding a chair that your child will love but at the same time is easy to maintain is the answer!

Safety, durability, and allowing your child to create a personal connection are the keys to finding a chair that will be around for the long haul. This new chair can offer an exciting art project or be a place your child can find solitude and read or draw. Childrens chairs come in many varieties that will allow both you and your child to find the perfect fit.
