A Bit 'O trivia

Mexican chocolate is made with dark, bitter chocolate mixed with sugar, cinnamon, and sometimes nuts.  It is a grainy, less-smooth product than we are used to, but I think it sounds delicious.

It is frequently purchased in discs, but is also available in bars and syrups.

Chocolate Addiction

"The divine drink, which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink (cocoa) permits a man to walk for a whole day without food." -Montezuma - Aztec Emperor (c. 1480-1520)

I am a Choc-O-Holic. I keep a container of M&Ms by my computer. About once a month I check the candy aisles for an imported chocolate bar that I haven't tried yet. I've dipped every kind of fruit I know of into chocolate at one time or another. I'm so bad, I feel genuine sorrow for those who do not like chocolate (can you imagine?), or worse yet, for those who can't eat chocolate. If there was a Church Of The Divine Chocolate Bar I would be a devout member of that congregation, right in the front pews, on my feet, brothers and sisters, with my hands in the air and singin' "Hallelujah!"

So there was no question that I was going to see the movie, Chocolat... even if it was a supposed "chick-flick." I'm certainly not above watching a romance movie, if it's good. And hey, one of my favorite movie lines was said by Hugh Grant: "There's something amuck with this cheesecake." That's funny stuff!

Chocolat is a good movie and has a lot of yummy looking chocolates and ideas in it, but the only one I've tried -so far- is Chili Hot Chocolate. I'm not big on spicy foods. My adventurous nature compels me to continue to try, but I just can't seem to get past the fact that it, well, ...burns my mouth! But, Chili Hot Chocolate? This was something completely new and different, at least to me. And because of the way it's prepared, you can control the amount of "heat." It's quick and easy to make, and the flavor is rich and unique. If you've never tried Chili Hot Chocolate, it's worth a taste... at least once.

Ingredients

  • 1 tblspn chili powder
  • 3 cups milk (whole, low or nonfat)
  • 1/2 cup Nutella Hazelnut Chocolate Spread (most grocery stores carry this, next to the peanut butter)

Directions

Place chili powder and milk in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Whisk in hazelnut spread until smooth and remove from heat, allowing to steep about ten minutes. Steep time equals "heat."

Dineshmalshe, I deleted your comment AGAIN because it was stupidly long AGAIN and had nothing to do with the hub AGAIN.

Please harrass someone else! The next I'll file a complaint with HubPages officials.
