Chin liposuction surgery is a procedure to eliminate fat deposits from under the chin, using suction to break up and remove fat. You can hide the extra fat on the body by wearing proper clothes but you cannot hide the fat on your chin. Due to this reason the chin liposuction is a very common surgery all over the world. And the fact that the recovery after chin liposuction surgery is relatively much faster makes it all the more popular everywhere. Procedures like chin liposuction come to the rescue for those who are worried about the double chin or extra fat on the chin or jaw line.

Chin liposuction surgery techniques have evolved a lot in recent times. Let’s take a look at the types of surgeries which can be done in chin liposuction.

First and pretty widely used chin liposuction method is the traditional surgery. This is a minor surgical method in which small incisions of 2 to 4 cm long are made in the chin and under the ears. Instead of making incisions in chin and neck, some surgeons can do an intra-oral incision (in the mouth) as well. This procedure is done after administering local anesthesia to the patient which is usually injected in the neck.

There is a newer method called tumescence technique through which he skin and the underlying tissue is lifted to accommodate the thin liposuction cannula (suction device) that sucks the excess fat. In tumescence chin liposuction, the high frequency oscillations coming from the cannula dissolve the excess fat cells. These fat cells are then sucked out through a vacuum device. If required, extra incisions are made to remove the excess fat from the cheeks. Chin liposuction procedure is considered to be safe and effective. This procedure usually takes anywhere between 45 minutes to one hour. Chin liposuction, also referred as facial liposuction or submental or submentum liposuction, is the best way to get rid of double chin, jowls, or chubbiness under the chin.

Another method to do chin liposuction is through laser surgery. This technique is relatively new in medical field. This procedure is similar to above method except in this method laser is used in the place of liposuction cannula. This type of method is not generally used or recommended for chins having large fat collections. This type of surgery is considered to be safe but still not prescribed for patients with diabetes, kidney or liver problems or blood clotting problems. This procedure takes between 30 to 60 minutes and therefore can be performed on patients without being admitted in the hospital or clinic.

An average chin liposuction surgeon fess can be anywhere between $1,500 and $3,800. It may vary depending upon the experience and skill of the surgeon, type of technique being used, how much fat needs to be removed and post surgery costs. You should keep in mind that chin liposuction cost is not covered in any health insurance policy in United States. Some people have started to merge the chin liposuction surgery along with a vacation overseas since the cost of surgery is very less as compared to cost in United States. But the patients have to be careful while choosing the surgeon in an overseas country. Check the experience level, credentials and read reviews on the surgeon over the internet before finalizing any overseas surgeon. See any proof of surgeries done by the doctor like chin liposuction pictures before and after to confirm this. Chin liposuction surgery is very common now days and ore and more people are using this minor surgery to improve their appearance.
