Small List of Chinese Contaminated Products
Small List of Chinese Contaminated Products

This is true!

I was listening to the Power Hour as I slaved away on my Hub Pages. Usually I only half listen, mostly I like the sound of human voices. You know what I mean if you have the TV on for company. So, just as I sat down with a nice cup of java, I heard the Power Hour talking about used condoms and hair bands, that almost made me gag on my coffee.

And so the story developed that China recycles used condoms into hair bands! My question is: Where do they get used condoms to begin with? I never knew anyone who saved used condoms. I mean this is just too gross for words.

You can bet that we will be hearing more horror stories about China made products. Personally, I read the label of every product that I buy, and if it is made in China, I try not to buy it. I used to love going to the dollar stores, not anymore. It is all made in China. And in the end it is just junk that you really do not need to begin with.

70% Of Wal Mart Products Are Made In China

Did you know that 70% of Wal Mart products are made in China? Yes China, land of the used condom savers. I don't know about you, but I am SICK of it. I am angry at my government for making all these so called trade agreements with China. China has no environmental standards, no health standards, in fact hardly any standards of any kind at all. When you buy something from China, you are buying that product at your own risk. The problem is that half the time you don't know something comes from China, the labeling can be quite clever and deceptive.

All I know is, I don't want to buy products from China. How many times have you held a hair band in your mouth while you pulled your hair back into a pony tail? Once a day, twice a day, more often? Imagine holding a used condom in your mouth! Imagine how sick you can get. All I know is that I am damned pissed that I should be exposed to something as vile as this. What is our government doing to protect us from this?

Sub Standard Chinese Products

85% Of Prescription Drugs Made IN China

As if hair bands made out of condoms is not enough, 85% of the prescription drugs Americans are taking everyday are maufactured where? You guessed it, China, land of the used condom savers. Kinda makes me wonder why I never feel very well. Who knows what is in our prescriptions.

Who is to blame? I would say that the US government, and US big business is to blame and the motive behind it all is greed. The US consumer gets a double whammy. They buy and pay for the junk that comes out of China, plus the America workers gets the shaft again when our jobs are shipped to China where slave labor is alive and well.

No Workers Compensation For Chinese Workers
No Workers Compensation For Chinese Workers

No Workers Rights In China

Workers have no rights in China. There is no such thing as workers compensation if a worker is injured at work. The Chinese workers simply lose their job if they are unable to perform it, even if that is due to an injury that is work/job related. There is no such thing as minimum wage in China, people toil away 12 hours a day for a few dollars. There are no labor laws which protect children. Children as young as 5 and 6 toil away in dirt and pollution filled factories, all for a few cents a day. It is a nightmare that few of us can even begin to imagine, but it happens every day, year after year in China.

I started this hub with the used condom story, but as I researched further, I was shocked at how China treats it's people and workers, but I soon found out that was not the only thing in China getting abused. Animals are often skinned alive for the Chinese fur trade. The more I found out, the sicker I became. To an animal lover this treatment of animals makes me want to cry. I can tell you that I found it hard to sleep at night after finding out how these innocent lovely animals are treated. I was unable to watch the videos, it is way beyond cruel, and these people who abuse animals should be jailed, forever!

There is a direct link between domestic violence and animal abuse. If someone abuses animals they are also likely to abuse their spouse and children. It kind of makes me wonder what life is really like in China.

If I had it my way, not a single Chinese product would ever be shipped to America again. Everytime you buy something from China, you are promoting their sick way of life.

No Animal Rights Laws In China

If it is not bad enough the way China treats its workers and their lack of respect for human beings, is the cruel way they treat cats and dogs. Driven by greed, cat and dogs are rounded up in big cities, even pets, and then clubbed to death and skinned, sometimes still alive, for their fur. To all the Americans who love animals, this is the worse outrage of all. Why would anyone ever want to treat animals in such an inhumane way? We should boycott China for this alone. How can we stand by and let this go on? Personally, I read the label on everything that I buy, and if it is made in China, I don't buy it. You and I can make a difference when we vote with our dollars. Most stuff out of China is junk anyhow and we are better off without it.

I have colleagues that have taught English in Beijing and they agree with what you report here, plus have more stories to add to it.

Although the opening ceremonies of Beijing Olympics 2008 was artistically beautiful, it was also emotional propoganda for drawing in peoples of other nations. While I am happy that the aborignal minorities in CHina are being permitted to have more than one child per family, I am saddened by lack of human and animal rights in other quarters. I'm not a vegetarian or with PETA, butsee that to skin cats alive for fur is atrocious, just as is clubbing & skinning live baby seals for their fur.

Thank you for your comment. I am betting that we do not even know the half of it. It is common knowledge that girl infants are simply killed on a regular basis. When is the rest of the world going to take a stand and tell China.....this is enough. Clean up your act or we are no longer going to do business with you.

thanks for writing such an informative article. you have certainly presented it well and like you, I'm a huge animal lover but won't be able to watch those videos. I also watch carefully what I buy, but now I'm going to watch even closer.

I also put hairbands in my mouth while pulling my hair back...

Thanks Franki 79 and RebeckahElle for your comments.

I was grossed out about the hair bands too, and I never ever put them in my mouth like I used to. Actually, I have started using those extra big rubber bands in my hair instead of hair bands.

I was watching DR Phil, and there were some Asians on there who were angry because Americans think they eat dogs and cats, well, well....after stories like this, what do most people think of Asians? I know what I think, China is a hell hole where there are no animal rights and even fewer human rights. The way those people have to live makes me sick, however, that is their culture and they are used to it.

Don't buy ANYTHING from China, and skip the China Buffets in this country, yes, they really DO serve cat and dog and then pawn it off as chicken. If they can't catch any cats or dogs, they go and pick up road kill, chop it up and then serve it up at the China Buffet! I am not kidding about this! I know more than once I was at a China Buffet place and ate chicken that was very, very rubbery, don't tell me that was not dog, cat or road kill!

I was going to write a hub about the China Buffet type eating places, but I thought someone might try to sue me, so I backed down, but at least I can warn people about it.

Sorry that I made you guys sick, but I think this is something people should know about.

I'm thoroughly disgusted... I don't usually pay attention to where products I buy come from but I sure as hell will now. At first I thought your article was just entertaining.. but then you really got into some serious stuff that I probably would have just skipped over if I knew what it really was. You're a very talented writer to be able to draw people in to read an article about heavy issues like this without guilt-tripping them or making them feel like criminals. I couldn't take my eyes off the page. OMG everything is made in China. I'm scared.
