As legend would have it, the Chinese Baby Gender Chart was buried in a royal tomb over 700 years ago. Legend says that this chart is 93-percent accurate and this chart is currently on display at the Beijing Institute of Science. This chart has been used to predict the gender of an unborn child based on the mother's age and month of conception.
The chart has two axes, the age of mum when the baby was conceived on the left and the month in which the baby was conceived on the top. Note that the age is your age in Chinese lunar calendar. Chinese lunar calendar is entirely different from the western calendar that uses its own system to record dates and seasons.
How to calculate your Chinese lunar age
To calculate your Chinese lunar age is not so complicated and confusing as some people think. In Chinese lunar age, you were 1-year-old when you were born, and add one more year after each Chinese New Year no matter what's your birth date. If you born on Chinese New Year Eve before midnight, you are 2-year-old on next morning!
The difference between a Chinese lunar calendar and Western calendar is about two months because Chinese new year is usually some date in Febuary. Each year, Chinese new year is a different date. For example, 18 Feb 2007 is Chinese new year this year, next year is 7 Feb 2008.
To calculate your Chinese lunar age, you may use the following method. Between Chinese new year and your birth date, it is your age plus 2; and once you pass your birth date and before the next Chinese new year, it is your age plus 1. For instance, if your birthday is 1 May 1980, your Chinese lunar age is 28 (27+1) between 1 May 2007 and 7 Feb 2008; your lunar age will be 29 (27+2) between 7 Feb 2008 and 1 May 2008.
You will use your Chinese lunar age when your unborn child is conceived to predict the child's gendar.
How to use Chinese bayb gender chart
The Chinese baby gender chart rarely seems random when you are actually looking at it. If the mum-to-be was 18 when she conceived the baby, the odds of the child turning out to be boy are 10 out of 12. where as if the lady was twenty-one at the age of conception, the odds of having a boy are only 1 in 12. Overall, when you look carefully to the chart, it is noticed that when mother gets older, the chances of having a boy are about as similar as having a girl.
Simply find the age of the mother at the time of conception on the chart below and then follow across to the month the baby was conceived to find the predicted gender. Both the age and the month are in Chinese lunar calendar. Although this chart is said to have a success rate of 93 percent and there is no big point to do this when ultrasound scan can do the job scientifically, keep in mind that this is solely for entertainment purposes. What lunar month is it now?
That same converter can tell you Chinese lunar calendar year, month, and day. For example, If my birthday is 24, July, 1967 (in western calendar, not my real birthday). I fill this date in the form, and I will get my result in table which has six rows, three in pink color, three in yellow color. I can find out my month on "Chinese Date of your birthday" (4th row), that is month 6.
You may not know exactly your baby's conception date, sometimes the conception month may go wrong by the calculator, especially in those days at the beginning or the end of the month.
Baby's conception date normally calculated by the first day of your last menstrual period. You may find out by this calculator:

Then use this date to find out conception month in Chinese calendar.
For example, your first day of your last menstrual period was 5, march, 2008, then conception likely occurred around March 19, 2008. Use this date, you find out the date in Chinese calendar was year 2008, month 2, day 12.
You are 27, the conception date is in month 2, then baby's a girl according to the chart.

Your Gregorian Age today is 23, your Chinese Age today is 24, this is also your conception age.
please tell me, if you don't mind, your first day of your last menstrual period to calculate the exact date of conception date, then convert to Chinese month too.
For example if your first day of your last menstrual period is 1 July 2008, then conception date around July 15, 2008, then convert to Chinese month, that's Chinese month 6.
According the chart, you will most probably have a girl (on the assumption of your conception date is around 15th, other date may have different result).
If couldn't work out, never mind, don't be too distressed. You have to be a Chinese and live "in" Chinese Calendar, be part of it. This include me, sometimes I am very confused too.
Hey! Very useful information. What I've done to help my friend calculate his/her lunar age is using my own lunar age to count forward or backward, since I know the order of 12 Chinese Lunar animals. Then I found that if you have an access purchasing yourself a Chinese lunar calendar (especially the one that printed and imported from Hong Kong) there will be a chart on the very back page so makes easier to calculate.
It's interesting about this Chinese Baby Gender Chart. I actually have never heard about it and I'm happy to learn something new today. Great job!

Your Chinese age is now 30, your Chinese age will be 31 after Chinese new year , that is 26 Jan, 2009, according to the Baby Chart, best months for a boy are listed bellow (B for boy, G for girl), that is from now on till the fourth month next year. You seems have missed many good opportunities this year.

Hello my dob is Nov 23 1987 if i am correct my chinese age is 22 (21+1). i am having trouble figuring out the lunar months as i read that i have to have the accurate month as solar months is different than lunar months. it says that i will have a girl if i concive in the months of Sept-Dec i am guessing that is in lunar months, what are the solar months for those 4 months?
