What is Chlorella?

Chlorella is a single-celled fresh water alga with a history of dating back more than two billion years. The wonderful thing about Chlorella is its amazing inherent strength through a genetic structure that has remained unchanged for all the length of time. This genetic structure is responsible for Chlorella’s nutritive value, ease of cultivation and astonishing rate of growth.

Roughly the size of a human red blood cell, these tiny micro algae was discovered in 1890 by a Dutch microbiologist, Martinus Beijernick, who studied pond algae. His fascination with the question of why sweet-water ponds turned a deep green led to the discovery of Chlorella rich in the green pigment, chlorophyll. He had no way of knowing that his minute discovery would be considered “green gold” a century later.

Chlorella is the most researched algae in the world. It has been tested by scientist working on the Russian Space Programme and NASA as a potential food substitute for astronauts. Japan pioneered in developing the technology to grow, harvest and process Chlorella on a large commercially feasible scale. Today, it is Japan’s No. 1 health food supplement and frequently included in salads and sushi.

Health Benefits of CGF

CGF has also been studied as a powerful enhancer of immunity and as a retardant of aging.  CGF stimulates tissue repair, guards cellular integrity, improves nutrient intake and regulates production of energy.  It also assists in the repaid of damaged genetic materials, protect health by supporting vital cellular functions and slows down the aging process.

Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF)

In the early 1950s, Dr. Fujimaki or the People’s ScientificResearchCenter in Tokyo separated a substance from a hot water extract of Chlorella by electrophoresis. He named the hitherto unknown fraction of Chlorella, the Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) which found to be rich in the nucleic acids RNA and DNA. Chlorella is one of the best natural foods abundant in nucleic acids. Canned sardines were thought to be the highest source of RNA; however, recent research findings indicate that Chlorella is 17 times higher in RNA than sardines.

Production of RNA and DNA (termed as “long life factors”) by the cells in our body slows down with age, resulting in lower levels of vitality, physical deterioration and susceptibility to diseases. Lifestyle factors, junk foods, drugs smoking, alcohol and pollution also cause sluggish production of RNA and DNA.

Richest Source of Chlorophyll

One particular characteristic of Chlorella is its high concentration of chlorophyll, often as high 7% of its total weight. This has led some to call Chlorella the “Supreme Whole Food Concentration”. Chlorella is by far the richest source of chlorophyll available for human nutrition today.

Health Benefits of Chlorophyll called “Nature Healer” for its positive effects on health. Chlorophyll’s chemical structure is similar to hemoglobin, the pigment found in red blood cells. Chlorophyll has proven useful as a blood builder which improves red blood cell count and corrects anemia.

Known as the most powerful cleansing agent found in nature, chlorophyll detoxifies the bowels, liver, kidney and bloodstream. It normalizes the beneficial bowel flora, stimulates tissue regeneration and speeds the healing of wounds and burns. It also assists in digestion, controls calcium in the body and increases iron absorption. It is best known for its deodorant properties.

Nutritional Composition

Chlorella is a storehouse of concentrated nutrients. Its nutritional analysis is so impressive, it is purported to contain everything needed to support life on earth. One of its most remarkable nutritional qualities is its high protein content; 50-60 percent with all the essential amino acids including a high content of lysine for optimum health.

As an all-vegetable source, Chlorella also provides impressive amounts of Beta Carotene, Vitamins C, E, K and the full range of B-Vitamins. It has more Vitamin B12 than beef liver and is an excellent source of this “feel-good” vitamin. The minerals in Chlorella include calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and trace amount of manganese, iodine and zinc.

Better Skin, Hair, Nails and Figure

Chlorella’s exceptional high concentration of vital nutrients makes it ideal as a beauty aid.  It improves complexion, strengthens nails and activates hair growth.  Taken regularly, Chlorella restores the body’s natural inner balance to reduce appetite and promote weight loss.  It has no wonder that Chlorella users not only feel healthier and have more stamina, but are also told they look younger.

Health Benefits of the Cell Wall

Chlorella’s unique cell wall is one of the important factors which set it apart from the other green foods. The Chlorella cell wall has the remarkable capacity to bind toxins and cleanse the body of harmful chemicals and pollutants in the blood and lymphatics. The cells walls are also an excellent source of fiber which promotes bowel function and regularity, an important key to a clean and healthy colon.

Another benefit of Chlorella’s cell wall lies in its complex component which stimulates the immune system to produce interferon. Interferon protects the body against infections from influenza viruses and has been proven to demonstrate anti-tumor activity.

The tough cell call, while beneficial is not easily digestible. There is a spray-dried methods used in the process which disintegrates the cell walls without removing them, making the algae over 80% more digestible. This way, you reap the benefits of both the cell nutrients and the cell wall.

100 Natural Chlorella repairs, rejuvenates and restructures body cells to:

  1. Regulates bowels
  2. Increases resistance to infections
  3. Increases stamina and energy
  4. Corrects nutritional imbalances
  5. Protects against pollution
  6. Retards the aging process
  7. Improves looks and overall health
  8. Promotes stronger nails
  9. Grows thicker, more lustrous hair
  10. Combats stress

Green Inside, Clean Inside and Healthy Inside

Diet high in fat and low in fiber are linked to colon cancer. Sluggish elimination results in digestive problems with toxic build-up. Toxins recycle in the body through the blood and lymphatics; this can lead to constipation, piles, poor organ functions and cancer. The bowels develop pockets (diverticula), the lining thickens, which slows down bowel movement (peristalsis). Chlorella nurtures the friendly bowel flora, the lactobacilli which promote digestive functions and peristalsis; thus help maintain, an efficient colon for optimum health.

Research indicates that its unique CGF promotes weight and height gains in growing children. Its immunity-enhancing effects banish colds and flu, relieve arthritic conditions and hasten healing in gastritis. It has proven to be beneficial in lowering cholesterol and reducing high blood pressure. Chlorella also helps combat stress, pollution and halitosis. Its multi-nutrient complex makes Chlorella ideal for athletes and vegetarians.

Chlorella is truly a natural food, whole pure and complete. Therefore, it has no stimulant depressant or other unpleasant side-effects. The whole cell of the algae containing nutrients, chlorophyll and the healing factors optimizes health and well-being. Considered an adaptogen, Chlorella regulates and normalized the body functions

I am wondering how long the effects of chlorella take to show? I have been taking it for about six weeks now @ four 00 size capsules a day.

It still depends on you body mechanism, most likely after 3 months you will see the results ;)
