It's a fact that women have long craved chocolate. They have made many analogies between sex and chocolate. Doctors have actually found a link between women and chocolate.

There are researchers who claim that women who eat candy chocolate actually have a better sex life than women who do not. The research shows that chocolate eating females have higher levels of desire, higher levels of arousal and obtain more satisfaction from their sex lives. Thus, chocolate or chocolate bars have a positive physiological effect on women.

The Mayans, the first known cocoa bean harvesters, have always believed that chocolate led to a euphoric response on the body. The Spaniards brought cocoa to Europe claiming that it was an aphrodisiac. Giacomo Casanova, a famous lover, also believed in the effect it had in his lovers. Chocolate has a history of being utilized as part of mating rituals, as it is believed that it can produce an elation comparable to a climax during sex.

Scientists are just now realizing the psychotropic properties and true effects of chocolate. Chocolate contains caffeine and increases levels of serotonin. Chocolate also contains phenyl-ethylamine. Once eaten these chemicals release dopamines, which enter and stimulate the pleasure centers commonly associated with an orgasm. Dark chocolate is particularly being connected with a healthy sex life.

There are also some added effects of chocolate such as reducing anxiety and helping a woman through her premenstrual times of the month. It is recommended that women eat chocolate when they are premenstrual and shortly before they are going to have sex.

While nothing has yet been proven conclusively, one might suggest adding chocolate to the food pyramid in a healthy dose daily - just in case.

Be sure to purchase chocolate with a high cocoa content and low sugar and low oils. Milke chocolate and white chocolate are not as effective as dark chocolate according to the studies. You will find it has a better flavor and much more effective for an amorous evening.

Belgian chocolates are very popular. I think I will spend some time to find a great chocolate recipe or two to share. I know of some good chocolate cookies that contain dark chocolate. I have a new appreciation for my friend who makes chocolate gifts. Perhaps she knew something before I did. I thought she was just dishing up a dessert. She was actually giving two in one.
