There are two types of approaches to decorating your Christmas tree - the planned approach and the no-planned approach. With the planned approach the theme for Christmas has been worked out and decorations sorted and purchased that suit the theme. For the non-planned approach you just open the box and go for it! Which kind of Christmas tree decorator are you?

Themed Christmas Tree Ornaments

There are many different kinds of theme you could choose for Christmas, anything from a single color to animals , angels or snowmen. Some themes can be really wacky like palm trees or strawberries! Whatever style you choose be sure to co-ordinate all you Christmas decoration together to get a really stunning effect. One of the loveliest Christmas themes is the white Christmas. This theme usually has a green tree, but all the Christmas tree decorations are white, white sting lights are used and white or silver tinsel. Glass Christmas ornaments can be used to reflect the light around. The tree usually ends up looking amazing because it is only one color. For other themes the colors are not what is important - it is the fact that the Christmas tree ornaments are related by type, such as all dog ornaments. The tree can be a riot of color and still look great.

Non Planned Tree Decorating

Well this is more my approach because I let my children do it. Christmas is for children and they so love to find their Christmas stash and all the ornaments from last year. The homemade Christmas ornaments go up then the presents and lastly the new decorations from this year. The tree is totally disorganized and very colorful and they love it.

The best Christmas tree themes are the ones your children make!
