Choosing A Wedding Videographer

Your Wedding Video Should Be As Unique As You.

Choosing a wedding videographer to capture those cherished moments on your special day is an extremely important decision. You want to know that the video production company you choose will not only be professional but will produce for you a finished product that is as unique as your relationship with your future spouse.

This can be pretty apparent from your first contact with a wedding videography company. If they immediately start trying to sell you on their most expensive package, you know they are all about the money. A video production company that truly cares about you the client will ask many questions before even giving you a price. Even though this may be frustrating to you, it truly is the best way for them to find out exactly what you are looking for and what will best fit your situation.

Many things need to be taken into consideration by the wedding videography company before offering an accurate quote. Of course the first thing you should be asked is the date, time and location of your wedding. There really is no need to go any further if the video production company doesn't have wedding videographers available for your wedding date. They will usually ask if the reception will be at the same location as the wedding. Unless you are absolutely sure you don't want footage of your reception, it is a good idea to get a quote on having a wedding videographer cover this as well. Quite often you can get a pretty good price especially if the reception is taking place at the same location as the wedding and immediately following the wedding.

Two Wedding Videographers Are Better Than One!

It is a good idea to ask for at least two wedding videographers and two video cameras to cover your wedding. Quite often a wedding videograhy company won't do this without charging an extremely high price. However, if they truly care about you and your wedding they should want to do this for a number of reasons.

First, they should know that having close ups along with wide shots make a much better finished production. Secondly, there have been far too many disappointed brides out there that have hired only one wedding videographer and in the middle of their ceremony the videographer's camera malfunctions or a battery goes dead. You never want to take this chance. Your special day is far too important to you and should be to the wedding videography company as well. They should always have a backup by sending two wedding videograhers and two video cameras. And lastly, wedding videographers know that those behind the scene bride getting ready video shots can be uncomfortable if a male videographer is in the room. That is why it is a good idea if one of the wedding videographers is a woman to go in with the bride and her attendants getting ready. Likewise, having a male wedding videographer in with the groom and the guys to get shots of them is a good idea. A professional wedding videography company knows that these shots need to be tasteful and no shots should be captured on video that are too risqué. Remember, friends and family will be viewing your DVD for many years to come.

One question you should always ask your potential wedding videographer is if they have professional sound equipment such as wireless microphones. We have all seen wedding videos where you can't hear the wedding vows or what is being said during the ceremony. This would be a huge disappointment to the bride and groom. A professional wedding videography company will know what it takes to get the best sound possible.

What About Options?

You should also be made aware of the different options you have for your special day as well. Most wedding videography companies offer photo/video montages set to music, bride and groom interviews, interviews with friends and family, love story videos along with a number of other options. Be sure to ask for their website to find out more about the company and what they offer regarding weddings.

Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Remember this is your special day. A day that will come only once in a lifetime. Choose a professional wedding videography company that will capture those precious moments that you will cherish forever.

A great source for wedding videography is Castlewood Studios in Missouri. Their work is absolutely breathtaking and their prices extremely reasonable.

Great post - we have been married for 27 years and have one regret - that we do not have a great record of our wedding day. We hired the leading photographer in a small town in the West Coast of Scotland where I met my wife and had a fantastic wedding day - the weather was great, the venue great, but the photographer was rubbish. I even heard when he dropped his camera. Results - we had copies made for our family but didn't bother ourselves. Fortunately I don't need to look back as we are still very happily married!

Mark,

Congratulations on 27 years of being happily married! My husband and I have been married for over 20 years. I love waking up every morning with my best friend by my side. It truly is a blessing to have a wonderful marriage.

It sounds like your wedding day was absolutely perfect. It would have been nice to have had that day captured through video or nice photos. We had a similar experience. I would have loved to have had a video with footage of grandparents and relatives that have passed on. Some of them had such unique personalities that it would have been nice to have shared that with our children and future generations.

Here's to 27 more blissful years of marriage! Thanks for your comment.
