Choosing Your Wedding Bouquet
82Planning the details of a wedding can be a very stressful, costly, and time consuming process for many brides-to-be. Choosing your wedding bouquet does not have to be any of these. Let’s make this one of the enjoyable and pleasant decisions of the entire affair. We’ll take a look at different types of bouquets and try to narrow down our choices to find the perfect bouquet for your special day!
Flowers With Meaning
When we think of a traditional wedding bouquet, the idea of a bundle of roses or carnations bound together at the stems. The idea of the bride carrying flowers down the isle signifies her feelings toward the marriage (at least that was the concept in the beginning). If you are a bride that is superstitious, then this might be a way for you to narrow down your flower choice. See below for some examples:
Orange Flower – Chastity, Orchard – Love and Beauty, Azalea – First Love, Daisy – Innocence, Red Rose – Love, White Lily – Virginity, Dandelion- Faithfulness, Begonia – Beware, Lotus Flower – Rejected Love, etc
Themed Wedding Bouquets
The wedding bouquet should compliment both the bride and the wedding theme simultaneously. If you are planning a themed wedding, try to implement the theme within the bouquet. Every detail of a themed wedding should reinforce the chosen theme. Let’s take a look at some themed wedding bouquets and see how they are effective.
The fall season is a beautiful time to have a wedding. The weather is cool and comfortable and the colors are stunning! Some fall colors to consider are burnt orange, burgundy, mustard yellow, dark greens, and warm browns. Just take a look at the color of trees during this season and you can see the colors everywhere! If you are having a fall wedding and have incorporated fall colors into the wedding design, then it’s a great idea to have the bouquet to match. You might be asking what types of flowers come in these warm colors. Some examples can be found in roses: Mini Calla Lilly (burnt orange), roses (burgundy), black magic (dark burgundy, almost black), Sari (apricot), green button mum (green), etc. There are so many flowers with these colors that any combination you pick will work beautifully together!
I bet the thought of a butterfly wedding bouquet probably hasn’t crossed your mind! Actually, butterfly wedding themes are becoming quite popular now that themed weddings are the new black. We can use this theme to show how being creative and thinking outside of the box can work for any wedding theme.
Butterflies are naturally attracted to flowers so your wedding bouquet will become the perfect backdrop for the butterflies. You may choose to have the flowers as the focal point and the butterflies as accents. Or, you may wish for the butterflies to stand out a bit more. This is a personal preference, so make sure you choose what makes you happy and proud to walk down the isle with.
You may even decide that you want the butterflies to the main focal point of the “bouquet” and choose to have no flowers. NO flowers on a bouquet?? Yes. As long as there is a butterfly theme implemented within the rest of the wedding décor, it could work beautifully. This is a very creative way to make your wedding your own and to leave a lasting impression on your guests. Who’s going to forget that bouquet?
Less Is More!
For a more modern and simple look, a lot of brides are choosing the less is more method. Instead of having a huge bouquet of flowers, they are opting for smaller amount of flowers. The look is sleek and stylish and still very sophisticated. Choose a flower that speaks volumes because they have a HUGE message to carry.
Silk Flower Bouquets
Silk flower bouquets can be just as beautiful as any natural flower bouquet. There are added benefits to artificial bouquets. You can keep the bouquet forever without it dying! Another benefit is that they can be incredibly more cost effective than real flowers. Especially if you have bouquets that have to be arranged for a large wedding party. If special care is used during the handling and arranging of the bouquet, your guests may not be able to tell that they are not real flowers!
In the end, it all comes down to what makes the bride smile and glow for her big trip down the isle. Be creative and think of ways to make your bouquet special for your wedding. Create a bouquet that speaks about your personality and you can’t go wrong!
