Invitations and save the date cards can be fairly cheap or really expensive depending on how many people you are inviting to the wedding. Most people have between 100-200 guests at their wedding. To order invitations and save the date cards for this many guests it can range in price from about $75-$300. It all depends on the design you want and what extras you want to come with the invitations, such as lined envelopes, RSVP cards, and so on.

If you are going to buy pre-made invitations where you wording is printed on the card for you before they are sent to you, some good places to purchase invitations from are Invitations by Dawn at http://www.invitationsbydawn.ca/ or Jean M at http://www.jeanm.com/ . Those are just a couple of great places to order your invitations from and if you would like to get a free catalogue to look at their designs you can order them directly from their website.

If you are crafty and would like to buy designed invitations but write your wording on yourself using a calligraphy pen you can buy really nice invitations from many different craft stores including Michaels. If you go to the website http://www.michaels.com/ you can view some of the invitations they sell there at very low prices. They also sell calligraphy pens and books to help you learn calligraphy. Even buying the extra pen and book, you still save a great deal of money writing your own invitations.

Another option is the e-invite. This seems a little impersonal but it is a great free way to get the word out about your wedding. If you think e-mailing wedding invitations is a good idea but don't want some people to be offended, try only sending paper invitations to those who you feel would disagree with the idea of having e-mail invitations. For the e-mail invitations you can find many websites that will let you design your own invitations to e-mail to as many people as you want all for free. Other websites like Hallmark charge a small fee to use their invitation making site but in the end it is the cheapest option.

There is also the option of buying computer software to make your own invitations and print them out. There are quite a few programs you can buy that allow you to do this. It may not cut down your cost very much from buying regular invitations, after you pay for the software, the printing, and the mailing. But this way you can personalize your invitations to look any way you want.
