There are lot of different types of colleges to choose from these days. What type of college is best for you? How do you know? This page will give you several things to consider and look at while you are deciding a college to attend.

Are you wanting to have a full college experience with dorm rooms and sports? If you answered yes to this question then it will somewhat narrow down your search for colleges. You will probably want to stick with looking at Universities or Special Interest Colleges.

Can you be productive in a class with 100+ other people? Universities have at least, actually a lot more, students in the general education classes than 100. Do you have the will power and determination in order to succeed in a class this big? Imagine that you can barely see the instructor, have to get to class early to get a seat by a speaker to be able to hear, and will probably have people whispering and talking during lectures and other distractions.

Are you planning on an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degree? This question will play an important part of making a decision for college. Of course you will be looking at colleges with the area that you are wanting to major in. What about the degree types that they offer at that college? You will need to make sure that whatever level of education that you are wanting is available at that college. If it doesn't then you will either have to transfer or pick a different college all together.

Will you need to transfer your credits to a different college at a later date? This is the BIG ooops of many students. Make sure if you are planning on transfering your credits to a different college that they will accept them. Do your homework on this. I cannot stress this enough. Not all colleges will accept transfer credits from other colleges. Even if they do then it doesn't mean that it will transfer in to the same class. For instance say that you take Algebra 1 at a college and will be transferring. The college that you are transferring to may accept the Algebra 1 credits but will only count it toward their Pre-Algebra class. So, you guessed it, you will have to take their Algebra 1 class.

What is your price range for college? College tuition ranges in price. Your private schools are usually more expensive than Universities. Online Colleges varies depending on many different factors. Special Interest colleges are usually on the higher side of the tuition scale. Make sure that you are going to be able to afford to attend the college that you are looking at.

Do you have any scholarships or grants to help pay for college? Try to get as many scholarships and grants that you possibly can to help pay for college. It is a lot of work to get them, however they help out a lot. Go after the bigger ones and also the smaller valued ones. Remember the smaller amounts count and add up.
