Choosing the right pair of sunglasses can be a daunting task. Not only are they a fashion statement, they also protect your eyes from the sun's harmful UV rays. Face shape, color, and protection from the sun are important factors to consider when choosing the right sunglasses.

Choosing the Right Sunglasses for Your Shape of Face

First, you should determine your face shape. The right frame shape will be flattering and balance your face shape. Angular frames help to slim a round face. Almost any style will work with an oval face, but the best choice is slightly square frames. Oval or round frames help to soften a square shaped face. For a heart shaped face, choose a pair of sunglasses that will balance the wide forehead and narrow chin.

Golden colors work best for warm-toned skin tones. These colors include brown, red, gold, and orange. For cool-toned skin, black blue, pink, and silver are most flattering. Generally speaking, dark brown and black sunglasses will work with any skin tone. Trendy and fashion colors may or may not work with your skin tone. It is important to try them on in front of a mirror and check them out from every angle. Don't be afraid to experiment with something new.

Getting the Right Amount of UV Protection

Eye care professionals believe that exposure to sunlight can contribute to eye disorders, so be sure to check the label on your sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses reduces the chances of damage to your eyes from the sun. Darker lens tint dose not mean better UV protection.

Labels on designer sunglasses should indicate what level of protection they offer. Sunglasses that have the "Z80.3" sticker screen from 60% to 98% of harmful radiation. Close-fitting, larger-lense or wrap-around sunglasses will provide protection. They prevent UV rays from filtering in from around the edges.

Try On LOTS of Different Sunglasses

Using the above tips will ensure that you choose the right sunglasses. Try on several pairs and take a friend along to give to give an honest opinion. Even though the right sunglasses can be hard to find, it is very much worth the trouble. They will look and fit great while giving you the protection and confidence you need.
