You must Focus

A tennis racquet is everything to you when you are playing tennis.  It's where all the physical action happens between you and the tennis ball.  So you need to choose the right raquet.

Not to mention that a good one is expensive, so you want to choose correctly.

What to Look For

You must first answer a few questions to determine what the best racquet for you is.

What do you want to concentrate more one?  Control or Power?  If you can generate your own power with your stroke, then you probably want a racquet geared more toward control.

High control racquets all have a few things in common:

  • A small head size, usually below 98 square inches or below.
  • Weight is distributed so it is head-light, to allow for faster head speed.
  • Frame is thin, around 18-20mm.

High power racquets will of course be almost oppostie of this, with thick frames and big head sizes.

Gosh, I haven't played tennis in years - reading this makes me want to take it up again! And now I have a good idea why I wasn't very good at it - wrong racquet! Thanks!

It's always the wrong racquet! And sometimes the strings magically disappear, then reappear while your playing. How else can you explain whiffed shots?
