Choosing Carpet Cleaning Service

Choose the right Carpet Cleaning Service
Choosing the right carpet cleaning service can seem overwhelming especially since there are so many services claiming they’re the best. How do you choose the right service for what you need?
Types of Carpet Cleaning Service
Dry Method
The dry foam method of dry cleaning applies shampoo to the carpet and then allows it to dry. The dried foam is then vacuumed up. Dry foam isn’t the most effective way of cleaning your carpets as this method can leave a residue in your carpet.
The dry-chem method uses a dry chemical and a nylon bonnet pad machine to rub the chemical into the carpet. Once the bonnet bad is filled with dirt, a new pad is attached to the machine. This method isn’t good at removing dirt and grime down deep in the carpet.
The oscillating pad machine is similar to the bonnet pad machine but it jiggles rather than spinning. The carpet is first misted with a pre-spray allowing the dirt and pollen to be removed by the cotton pad. This method can be hard on carpet, but on the positive side, the carpet dries in about an hour and leaves no residue.
The dry compound method spreads a sawdust-like mixture over the carpet that absorbs dirt into the sawdust mixture. After the mixture is dry, it is simply vacuumed up.
Steam Method
Hot water extraction is often referred to as “steam cleaning”. In reality, steam is actually not used, but pressurized hot water mixed with a carpet cleaning chemical is applied and suctioned up by a truck-mounted hose. The dirty water from your carpet is suctioned from up into the truck. Steam cleaning may leave your carpet wet for a few hours.
Considering Price ?
When considering a carpet cleaning service, you may be tempted to go with the best deal or price. Be sure you know the different types of carpet cleaning methods available first. Ask for referrals from friends and neighbors. Get estimates. Be careful of hidden charges. Many times a carpet cleaning service will tack on “extras” to the really great price you were given. For example, stairs will more than likely not be included in the quoted price. Stairs are usually priced per stair. Spot cleaning may be an extra charge as well as special carpet coatings they’ll try to sell you. Deodorizers for pet smells will likely be an additional charge. Also be aware of any additional labor charges. Many price quotes do not include moving furniture. Trip charges may be another hidden cost.
