Christopher Adam Daughtry or Chris Daughtry as most commonly known by others was born on December 26, 1979 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was raised by his parents, Pete and Sandra Daughtry in Virginia before he relocated to North Carolina. He has a brother name Kenneth. At the age of 16, he already started his musical career singing with the rock band during his high school days. He graduated his high school from Fluvanna High School in 1998. After high school, he was with the band named Absent Element that released an album Uprooted in 2005. Daughtry was working as a Service Advisor at Crown Honda, North Carolina, at the time he auditioned for American Idol.

Chris Daughtry became famous during the fifth season of American Idol where he was eliminated and only got the fourth place.
