Religion and Politics - A thorn in the side
66Christ fought the law
Christ was a missionary, we can all agree on that, maybe not the Jewish faith, I don't know enough about that religion. If you were brought up with the Christian faith or in a western-christian country, this hub should be easy enough to understand.
I was not brought up with the bible but I know of it, I was a kid in Australia of British and European descent. I live in a city with not all that much racial dispute but most of it resulting from the genocide of Australian aborigines and the state which those people have been left to reside.
I have visited England, my father being born here, of Italian and German heritage. My grandfather fought against the Germans in WW2. My father was schooled in a religious based college but would never speak of the bible, he is an agnostic. My mother believes in the Christian faith but we argue to the point of silence. Such is my experience talking religion with most people.
I do not believe in Christ the saviour, I believe in Christ the persecuted activist and with concentrated evidence I stand my point that if in any way the spirit of Christ lives on, it is as activist for the rights of the downtrodden and unfortunate. He walked with the street people, the prostitutes, the theives, the sick, Christ walked with the people that we, the people of a representative democracy, silently or not, still hold under our feet. But, apparently, those whom act on our behalf, the tax-collectors (our government) and the pharisees (our church) those will be the first into heaven. Well surely, if there were a heaven and one was to believe that the worst of sinners are first in, such an orderly fashion seems right to me.
Of course, we are all sinners, what a great concept that is, but so long as we own our guilt in conversation with God, heaven has a place for me. I'm sorry, that does not fit with me. Personally, I am not working for a place in heaven, nor a life of apologies to some ethereal God. I do what is right according to the rules I set and the rules which I beileve are true by laws not in any book. The truest law of the bible being the law of God is above all. Righteousness is not set by precedent but by God given knowledge, you sense that guilt and by the time you are deemed responsible by the law of the land, you should have tried and tested the law of God and know enough to do right.

You contradict yourself alot here... On one hand you say you have but a cursory relationship with Christianity and judism, but then claim an understanding of Christs teachings. You just want to pick and chose what you believe, without any solid study. Well, good luck with that.
We can agree to disagree if you like. If you don't want to understand that's your perojative if you want to know well here goes. First let me say that I am not contradicting myself. Maybe you are misinterpreting my views because they do not fall into any particular category of political persuasion. Maybe my relationship is cursory, yes. I know enough not to waste too much time with it and I know enough to understand the evils of the church. I prefer to distribute my time to more worthy causes. I believe in God and religion contradicts my belief. Each to their own. One last thing, it is the the books of religion I have a problem with, it is the abuse of those books being used as a tool or to say in another way, the cursory relationship that the church has with the books.
Your own words have exposed you as an anti-Semite. Denials just make you look like a craven one.
anti-Semitism Literally, persecution of or discrimination against the Jews. The first use of the term, which came into being in the 1870s, is variously attributed to the German Wilhelm Marr and the Frenchman Ernest Renan. In one respect it was a misnomer from the beginning since, in the jargon of the racial theory of the period, ‘Semites’ were a broad group of non-European ethnic groups including Arabs, whereas anti-Semitism was taken to mean, and has continued to mean, an anti-Jewish racism. (Oxford Dictionary). I have made comments that display my dislike of many sections of our community. I have argued thoroughly my dislike of Christian, Jewish, West, East, Right and Left. I have no shyness announcing my feelings about any particular group. In no way do I hold any particular prejudice against the Jewish faith. That is more than I can say about some people on these forums and the blatant disregard for anyone who is not white anglo-saxan Judea-Christian right wing straight and American, you included tksensei. I refuse to sum up the world in a few words. Attack me if you will but I will just go about my way and rest easy. I will repeat this again: I have only one opponent and that is ignorance. A particular type of ignorance, and that is an ignorance usually found in the West, my place of abode. I do not ease myself with sweeping generalisations but I wholly understand why some do. It is easy.
Tksensei, don't post on any of my hubs in the future. I don't want your rot on here. I have denied your last comment for reasons you should be aware of by now. Bye.
just a typo I can't fix up, and to clear the air again. It is not the books I have a problem with but the abuse and manipulation. From the two hubbers whom commented on this hub thus far, I can draw an example. My comments on this or that political issue, to express my views involves the mention of religion and its hijacking by power hungry fools. However, I do not blame government either, parallel or otherwise to religion, politics is allowed to serve the few because of passive condonement of our leaders. Religion the same way. I believe in God and I have read the old testament and new, and some of the Quran, some buddhist teachings, existential philosophers, athiestic scientists, the lot. I find athiesm the most riduclous but thats another story. I actually put my hands to the clouds with eyes closed at times, wondering why it is so hard to understand. Being a victim is not an excuse to perpetrate. Retaliation of violence is our history and like someone said on one of the hubs in politics or religion I don't know but the point he/she made was our nature as human beings is we only seem to learn by war or famine. I concur. I don't necessarily disagree with war either. I believe there are too many people on this earth as it is and it is irresponsible how we have kept spawning to this toxic level.
Just for the count, I have deleted 4 comments now from tksensei, all the same thing, calling me anti-semetic. Say something intelligent and I might let you comment. Don't just slag me off, especially when you have spread your unedcuated slander all too often and been ridiculed by logic, not only by me but many others. The worst thing I said, re: this anti-semetic crap you keep posting, I call another hubber an arrogant Jew, and that was the truth. So buzz off.
Maybe it upsets some people that I can be honest about my past. For those who have attacked me with names like nut job or referred to my addictions, what do you hope to prove? Does it upset you that an ex-addict, mental case can argue his point better than you and your sane, clean living right wing cronies? Sorry to spoil the party. I would not post my past up here if I wasn't at peace with it. In one post trying to attack my views on religion or politics with a mention of me being prejudice but then attacking my mental illness? Who is the fool?
It's still you.
I rest my case.
Hi Cash.
I have just read your hub. Better late than never. Not that you need me to tell you this, but I found nothing in your hub that a reasonable person would consider as anti-Semitic. Perhaps the criticism has its roots elsewhere.
This a good hub and an interesting read. I’m looking to more of the same.
Q.
Thanks Q. I have dropped out of forums mostly. I was banned initially but now I just choose not to comment. There are too many hot heads and I get caught in the whirlwind(Re: comments above). I will post a new hub soon. Cheers.
Bovine you are riding on the reel of the atheists here, carry your own tail I challenged you to a debate anytime you want... contact me at my email if you have time so...
You are not amusing at the forums...
@GeneralHowitzer. I take it as a compliment that you find me unamusing. Amusement is the least of my concerns and this might be a suprise to you but I am not using the forums as a means to win friends. What you think about my beliefs is your business and I care not for your assumptions about my thoughts. I am on no reel and I need no labels. You want a debate, you got one but I have one condition. You learn the rules of logic and you're on.
Well then, no dice you act as if you are very logical you are entitled to it because you think you are... You are always perfect to your own opinion...
Nice cop out. Logic is not a matter of opinion GeneralHowitzer. No dice? You are very funny. Very very funny. There are millions just like you and if feeling part of something makes you feel good, I am happy for you.
Glad you are, you must be...
LOL
The General is about 11 years old mentally, so you are wasting your breath. He has only just decided to jump on teh religion bandwagon and has nothing to say that has not been said before - more convincingly.
The troll sensei - I suspect the only reason it has not been banned is no one can be bothered to complain about it. I have never seen it make a considered comment - ever.
Good hub. I can see why the religionists would get all bent out of shape though. Anything that is not black and white goes against dogma.:)
I guess it was immature on my part to get serious with your thread the other day... my apologies my friend... :)
@ Mark at least I'm many times younger than you old man hehehe... and whatever hehehe...

For anyone who cares, I am not anti-semetic. I am not Christian. I believe in God and I am anti-religion. Let me be clear, in my eyes religion is the root of all evil, all faiths inclusive.
