'A' 'B' 'C' of Christian Discipleship

This hub is for Christians who are interested in developing their walk in Jesus Christ. A few months ago I came up with this simple outline which I thought might be of help to the web surfer. There is no greater pursuit in life than following Jesus Christ. This pursuit is called “discipleship.”

Definition of Discipleship: “Discipleship is the intensely personal activity of two or more persons helping each other experience a growing relationship with God. Discipleship is being before doing, maturity before ministry, character before career.”

What is included here is a simple acrostic of the English alphabet. Each letter will remind you of a discipleship goal. Each goal has a web link(s) for further research. The links are generally interdenominational, and I have tried to include opinions from many groups. Even if you do not agree with the links, they will give you room to study and expand your knowledge.

Following the links I give a Scripture reference from the King James Version of the Bible. I use other translation in my own readings but still have a preference for KJV. I hope you find this useful! May God bless you!

U Understand. Jesus has given to us to understand Him. 1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

V Victory, Live in the victory that is ours. 1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

W Walk in the Spirit Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

X Expect our enemies to be defeated. Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

Y Yield to holy living! Rom 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Z Zealous to build Christ’s Church. 1Co 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
