Christmas is a great time of year to think about those who are very special to you.

We set time aside for family get together, parties with our co-workers and attend special shows at schools and churches.

In this time of appreciating the blessing in our lives, we give gifts to others to show how special they are to us.

So, in my opinion, a Christmas present should have some thought behind it. Not a last minute stop at the local department store looking for an item at the right price that is already wrapped.

Somehow that gift choice does not communicate: I love you and I appreciate you come Christmas morning.

In order to choose an appropriate Christmas gift for her, you must consider the person as an individual.

Women, in general, have a lot of demands put on their lives. No matter her career choice or age she has a number of items that are simply expected each day. Many women simply step up to the plate to do what it takes whether or not they truly have the energy for the task.

So why would you honor the woman or women in your life by choosing a hurried gift of convenience. Doesn’t she deserve if just for five minutes on Christmas morning to feel special and cherished.

So before we talk about what to buy her for Christmas, let’s talk about what to NOT get her.

As a general rule, do not buy her…

a. There are very few women who dream of their very own, new shiny blender under the Christmas tree.

2. Lingerie

a. That gift is not for her

3. Scented lotion

a. By gift default over the course of the year, my wife receives more of this stuff than she can use in her lifetime

4. Picnic Table and similar items

a. If it is a family gift, address the gift to the entire family. Do not give it to one person, just so that person can have a gift.

5. Vacuum Cleaner

a. Funny how I have never seen a commercial giving a woman a shiny, new vacuum cleaner and her loving it. There is a reason!

Put there is hope for Christmas gift buying in a way that will make her feel special.

Buy Her Jewelry

A watch, bracelet and/or earrings are one size fits all for the most part. So you can buy her an elegant piece of jewelry that is guaranteed to fit her.

Buy Her a Purse

Women like variety in their handbags. You cannot go wrong with a new handbag.

Gift Certificate for Pampering

Most women love pedicures, manicures, massages, facials, and other spa treatments.

Buy Her Electronics

An iPod or iPod accessories are a great gift. A new digital camera is also a great present to consider.

Books and Magazines

Buy her a book from her favorite author or a magazine subscription. Each month when the subscription comes she will feel special.

Pay attention over the course of the next few weeks, to see what she is talking about. Track the item she commented on. It will only take you a little bit of time to gather a decent Christmas present list.
