Christams Spirit

Dear Readers:

Christmas Spirit,

Well Recently,  I went out for Thanksgiving to Black Angus,  and although I had planned a Thanksgiving Feast.  They did not want to sit at my house because of the kitties that I have adopted.  It is not a matter of allergic reaction,  it is a matter of O.C.D  Obsessive, Compulsive, Disorder.  I understand and sympathize,  with the conditions of this particular syndrome.  I do not understand why for 1 day out of the year that this can not be put a side.  I suffer from my own O.C.D's,  that are far worse than a cleaning disorder.  Mine deals with death,  I worry non-stop about Familiy and Friends Driving, walking through the park, walking the streets of L.A. and New York. Disease, any thing that is a terminal illness.  I figure 1 day out of the year maybe someone could put that best foot forward to let me know that they are still out there.  Willing to be loving at least one time a year...... Too much to ask?  Evidently so.  I hope that there is someone out there that can understand what it is that I am saying.  No matter what the differences are in your life,  no matter what the O.C.D. is that you have,  does that mean you can't control it for one day to be with the ones that you love.  It should not have to be that way.  There are several steps to recovery that take time to build a standing point of sanity.  This may sound crazy to some but, we only have a limited time with those who we love.  If you base your life on the fears that you have,  you will most assured miss out on the love that you will miss.  This is not a guess,  it is a fact.   So,  lets all think about this when it comes to the people we care about,  and even the people you may not.  A kind gesture,  given is the best gift you could give to someone who has had none.  Food for thought.    A. Korn

DEAR AMBER,

I DOES SEEM A REASONABLE REQUEST TO LAY ASIDE OUR OCD'S FOR JUST ONE DAY, BUT IT ISN'T THAT EASY FOR SOME. MY BELIEF IS: WE ONLY HAVE ONE DAY "AT A TIME" AND IF WE COULD LAY ASIDE OUR FEARS AND DISORDERS FOR ONE DAY "AT A TIME", WE MIGHT REALIZE THEY ARE NOT WORTH BURDENING OURSELVES WITH THEM. BUT LIKE I SAID, IT JUST ISN'T THAT EASY FOR SOME. WHAT HELPS ME IS PRAYER. I KNOW SOME DON'T BELIEVE, BUT I DO AND IT IS A GREAT SOUCE OF STRENGTH TO ME AND A GREAT COMFORT TO LEAVE MY FEARS BEHIND JUST TRUSTING A HIGHER POWER TO GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE AND WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. IT WAS VERY KIND OF YOU TO CHANGE YOUR PLANS FOR THANKSGIVING. THEY MISSED OUT, I'M SURE, BECAUSE YOU ARE AN AWESOME COOK! : ) MOMALL

You would hope that people could put more effort towards being with family. OCD is a hard thing to deal with though.

I have had problems with it myself. I try to move on and sometimes I put myself in situations that I don't feel comfortable with.

I guess I use that as a form of therapy though. It's good to see what your limits are when you have OCD. That way you're able to function better in society.

When it comes down to it though you're going to be with family. That is what really counts this time of year. Just feel luck to spend those valuable moments with the ones you love.
